Irregular gestational sac with no embryo and a shadow on u/s

i went to the doc on fri my gestational sac looked like and egg but slightly caving in measure 6 weeks. there was also a shadow above it about the same size that the doc said could be blood. there was nothing to be seen in the sac and the doc seemed worried. i am rh neg so he wanted me to get rogam shot that would only be needed if a misscarige had occured. well they had me do hcg testing and they came back at 17,761 which is norm i went back today but havent got the results.i spotted twice after intercourse and have mild cramping i am worried and wonder if anyone has any thoughts.

I was in the same situation as you just a short time ago.  On my 3rd ultrasound we could not see baby or heartbeat (after seeing the HB a week before).  The tech said there was a shadow covering my uterus.  She said that may be why she isn't seeing anything.  I was sopposed to be 8 wks preggo but the sac was measuring at 6 wks.  I went back to the doctors 3 days later.  We saw the baby and a heartbeat.  The heartbeat was low (96 bpm) and the sac still measured around 6 weeks.  I had no bleeding and no cramps.  I still had all the pregnancy symptoms.  I was given a 60% chance of miscarriage.  I had my beta taken within that week and the first one was high but 2nd was lowering.  I still had no bleeding.  A few days later I started spotting brown for a week then pink, then red.  Went back for another ultrasound and baby was gone but sac was still there.  Had a D&E the next day.  I'm sorry you are going through this.  I know its really hard.  I just wanted to share my experience with you.  I wish you the best!

Wow we have a similar situation.  We went to the docotor expecting to be about 8wks and the gestational sac is measuring less than 5wks.  There is a big pouch of blood next to it too...and they are telling me more than likely i will miscarry.  I have to go get my hormone levels checked as well so let me know what happens with you.  I havent had any bleeding, but i do have cramping.  I wish you the best and it helps to know there are other people out there going through the same thing.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I would def ask for another u/s and to keep checking your blood levels to make sure they are rising....usually they double every 48-72 hrs. Bleeding is a common side affect in pg. Intercourse can definately cause bleeding. We are very vascular when we are pg the slightest thing can trigger bleeding. I would stay away from it for alittle while. I would talk with your dr and see what he or she says to do as well. I wish you the best and keep me posted. I'm here if you need to talk.....
