Miscarriage

Hello ladies,
I was 5 weeks pregnant, the first time. I have been in extreme pains in the lower abdomen and two days ago i began bleeding like a period. It continued the second day when i rushed in emergency room. They checked me out, did an ultrasound, they coudnt see anything, but when the doctor pressed on my ovaries in the left one especially i had severe pains. They did a urine test, later on a blood test and they said there is no pregnancy hormone. so i was miscarring. To anyone who has had the same problem like i do, i would like to ask, how many days will i continue to bleed, it is already the third day and im bleeding like a period. Aswell are the pains normal? I have severe abdominla pains and from yesterday when the doctor checked me out the pain is on the left side. It is so sharp that i cant stand for a long time or sit for a long time aswell.
do i need anyother check-up? how long would it take for the bleeding to stop and for the horrible pains especially in the left side and lower back to go away?
Thank you very much.

Thank you dear,
They checked me and did the intravaginal ultrasound. The doctor said there is nothing. So there were three possibilities. Too early to see, ectopic or miscarriage. So they did a urine and later a blood test, none showed pregnancy hormone.
so they said it is a miscarriage. The problem is that the pain in the left side and on the lower back radiating on the leg aswell began from yesterday when the doctor pressed on the ovaries during the check up. I hope the pain will go away and ill be fine again. They said the same to me in ER. If the pain gets worse i have to go again, hopefully with Gods will the pain will go away and ill be healthy and normal again.
Thank you again for your thoughts.

Hi Sue
I am so sorry for what you are going through. Did they say anything about an ovarian cyst on the ultrasound? I also had severe pain on the left side during my last m/c. Since the pain was not accompanied by heavy bleeding (it was about a week after that had stopped) and it did not look like I was having an ectopic (my hcg levels were dropping) they thought it was due to an ovarian cyst that they had seen on the u/s. The pain was so bad it was unbelievable and was only on the left side. It radiated into my back and down my leg. It came and went in waves but was only really bad for about 1 day. I just rested, took pain meds, and used a warm compress. They had said that if the severe pain became constant, didn't get better after a few days, or if I started having nausea or fever, I should come back to the ER.
I hope feel better soon. It is normal that the bleeding will continue for a week or sometimes longer. If your pain is not getting better soon or any symptoms are getting worse you should call the doc or go get checked again. Better to be safe than sorry that it isn't something more serious. Wishing you peace.
