Miscarriage...should I have D&C?

I was 9 weeks pregnant today when I started gushing blood.  We hadn't had an ultrasound yet because my Dr had a new machine on order, so I was scheduled for one in a week.  My cervix was closed this morning and there wasn't membranes or tissue in my blood he said, so he sent me for an ultrasound which showed nothing was in my uterus.  The tech said "the good news is I won't have to have a D&C" but my doctor called me later after blood work and recommended I have a D&C tomorrow, especially with the holidays on Thursday.  I am still bleeding pretty heavily and have some moderate cramping in my back and abdomen, so I don't know if I should have the D&C or not.  I'd probably rather do things naturally, but what have your experiences been with natural or D&C?  Our insurance is really bad and won't cover anything maternity for a few more months (wait period).  I need to recover from this quickly as my husband doesn't have any time left off work for the year and we have a two year old and her birthday coming up on Monday.

I actually decided to go ahead and have the D&C and I'm so glad that I did.  I was bleeding so heavily before the surgery yesterday and now I'm not bleeding at all.  I had a teeny bit of cramping right after the surgery and it hurt to urinate from where they drained my bladder before surgery, but I haven't had to take any pain medicine at all and I've been on my feet literally all day today cooking and cleaning for Thanksgiving.  My hip is sore from the RH- shot, but thats it.  I feel so much better emotionally and physically.  It was really traumatic passing parts of the tissue and I can't imagine having it drag on for a couple of weeks.  The doctor said after my 2 week checkup we can start trying again.

Don't let the doctor push you into a d & c if you want to go natural.  It sounds as though you are already in the process.  I have had 2 m/c's and the doctor always gave me a choice : d&c , "natural" with cytotec or natural.  I chose the latter.    The bleeding should last average 2 weeks - if you look back in past posts you can read other women's experiences with natural m/c.  Keep an eye out for signs of infection ( fever, excessive bleeding over a pad an hour, headache, foul discharge et.)  Good luck and so sorry for your loss.  If you need support - you'll find it in this forum.
