Periods after miscarriage

I stated my story in a post and haven't heard back yet....Now I know I am not pregnant after my missed abortion miscarriage.  It must have just been leftover hcg hormones in my system...miscarriage took place in April 2009.  I have just gotten my 1st period after all the trauma and it's been 10 days and I still have a very light to moderate flow.  The 2nd day of my period I actually though I was miscarrying a twin bc the blood flow was so heavy it streamed out of my bathing suit, onto the chair and even pushed my tampon out after I finally made it to the bathroom?!?!  Talk about scared!!!  But I had no cramping, fever or nausea so I am thinking it was just a super heavy flow that I couldn't have been prepared for.  Is this somewhat normal?  Will I get back on a regular schedule again? I really want to start trying to conceive again, but am thinking I should wait a few months to have some sort of regularity back in my system.  Any advice on anything?  I would very  much appreciate it as none of my friends/family have gone through this...Thanks!

I'm sorry for your loss! What has your dr told you to do as far as ttc. Most dr's say to wait 3 cycles for your cycle to regulate and your body to heal. Some women's cycles go on unaffected while others wait forever to get their first period after a m/c or for ovualtion to get back on track! A miscarriage can really turn not only your world and heart uspside down but your body and cycle as well. It's hard to say when your cycle will regulate. Most of the time with a natural m/c bleeding lasts 5-7 days however that is not always the case. If your bleeding lasts more than 2 weeks I would def get in to see your dr. Honestly I wouldn't suggest wearing tampons you could actually cause and infection. I would also recommend having your hcg levels drawn to make sure they go to zero. Do you have a follow up app set up with your dr. I would wait to make sure you are given the green light by your dr before ttc! Best wishes to you and good luck! I'm here if you need to talk.
