TERRIFIED i have an eptopic pregnancy..Please help!!

Hi,

I realize eptopic isn't really a miscarriage but i'm hoping someone might have some experience or advice. I just had a little boy three months ago and i'm terried i'm pregnant again with an eptopic pregnancy.  On September 10th my husband i had sex (withdrawl method)..i know, not the best birth control but it's what we've always used and we went 10 years without getting pregnant using this method.  I started having spotting (very light and only when i wiped three days later)...i've now been spotting on and off since...sometimes it's light red, sometimes orange and sometimes brown.  It's never enough to wear a pad, only when i wipe. Although a day or so ago i had some brown discharge which actually made it's way to my underwear.  I had what i thought was one period after my csection..i had the period on August 13th but it was unusually light and short so i'm not sure if it was an actual period or just continued bleeding after birth (had a csection on June 24th). I've taken close to 10 or more pregnancy tests lately and all negative..except for a clear blue plus which showed a very light positive but only after it was sitting there for a few hours.  I don't really have any pain although i have been cramping like i'm going to start my period.  I've been to the doctor and she seems to think it's just my period trying to get regulated again. Does anyone have any experience with this? I thought i should definately be regular by now, three months later.  My question is would i get a postive hpt if the pregnancy was eptopic? how long do they usually grow before a tube will burst? I would be almost 4 weeks counting from the day we have sex but i know they usually count from your last period (which i really don't know if i actually had or not). I'm just wondering if there is anyone who has had an eptopic and could perhaps give me some information or share your experience with me. I appreciate any help!!

Thanks again for the reply,

If i start getting any of those pains i'll definatley head to the ER...i have sharp pains on and off in my ovaries but doctor thinks that's my period trying to start.  I'm going to keep testing to see if i get a positive and i have a drs appt in a couple of weeks so i'll get her to do blood work also.

BedfordGal, from what you write it doesn't sound like an ectopic, however, if you have any doubts at all, and it sounds like you do, you need to go in for a scan and/or bloodwork.  You know your body, and you'd be the best to make that decision.

If you have pain or tenderness in your abdomen (not the same as period type cramps), if it hurts when you cough or go to the bathroom, if you have shoulder pain, or if you have sharp pains especailly on one side, then you need to go the ER right away....those are definite signs.  But, like you said earlier, not all people get these signs right away.  And you probably already know all this anyways, I just wanted to make sure (hope I didn't offend).  I hope everything is okay and your dr is right about your period trying to start.  But maybe it would be a good idea to call them back tomorrow and see if you can at least come in and get bloodwork.  I think at this point it would definitely show up in your blood and that would either put your mind at ease or catch it hopefully before any damage is done.  The most important thing is for you to be healthy and have peace of mind.  Take care

I'm really hoping your right...i've heard that it doesn't always show positive which is why i'm freaking out. And i did get a positive but i don't think it was read within the time frame.

I was going to add that if you had an ectopic preg. you'd still have all the same symptoms of early preg...breast tender, nausea and so on...

You hpt would be positive..even with an ectopic...usually w/ and ectopic  the Hcg rises slowly (not doubling like a normal preg) but there is Hcg so you would get a positive...especailly if it's been 4 weeks.

Well the pregnancy test is negative..that's the weird thing! And no i didn't mean post partum depression...i was just talking about post partum period (the six weeks after birth)..and yes tubals are very dangerous, if the baby grows to a certain size it can rupture the tube and cause massive bleeding. Scary stuff! I'll definately be heading to the ER if the pain or bleeding worsens. From what i'm hearing though tubals registers on a pregnancy test just like a normal pregnancy would so i don't know what to think

yes i was spotting for along time and didnt have a regular period for about 6 weeks. Sometimes red blood sometimes clots and sometimes brown but it was never a period like i had to use a pad it was on and off. I got birth control 6 weeks after my second son which messed my period up even more! I can not recall cramping. You should prolly seek some medical attention because i think when you have tubal pregencys it can cause more problems and it needs to me monitored! You say Post Partum is that depresstion you mean? If so i would look into getting some meds i am on a med for depression and trust me it helps a lot! I look at things in a totally different way and im more happier then i have ever been but if not just some advice anyway :) ........ if your doctor is not worried about it i would definetly check into the ER because if it ist pregency then mabey something else is wrong. Im sorry that you have to go through all of this hun but im positve that you should get it checked out asap. I would also research some things on a tubal preg. to see all the side effects and read if there is any complications to your self. My friend had one and she had to get the baby removed :( let me know how your doing if you get checked and what happened! Goodluck i hope everything goes ok for you. Write back if you need to im here for you!

Thanks for your reply..i've always been regular, that's why i'm really worried. When you say your period was like mine did you spot for a month with no period?? And have cramps for a month? That's what i'm going through. Some people have alot of pain with eptopics but i've also heard of those that didn't have any. When did your period finally regulate itself? It's going on 4 months post partum now for me..this is getting ridiculous!

i also had a csection and my period was just like that after i had my my first and second csection. I would assume that you would be in alot of pain with a tubal pregnecy but maybe not. Mabey you should request an ultra sound from your doctor to see what is going on. My periods have always been adnormal so maybe that is why my period was like yours. Good luck :)
