i had my doctors appointment today the doc afformed me i was 6wks 3days today at the time of my first ultra sound i was approx 5wk 5days no heartbeat only yolk sak and development begfining so the doc said this was normal and heartbeats are usually detected in wk six or even wk seven the nurse tried to say there may only ever be a yolk sac and no bub but the doc and the lady who performed the ultrasound said no heartbeat or fetal pole can be normal at the early stage of five wks now im confused n dnt know if this is normal or not commets on when u heard ur babys heart beat and fetal pole development im scared now :/

I'm 22 weeks, this is my 4th pregnancy...2nd baby to make it past 8 weeks. Doctors where I live don't recommend u/s before 10 weeks to detect heartbeat because they are not accurate enough.good luck...

next thursday they repeat the ultrasoundso by then i will be 7wks  5days by then so fingers crossed and prayers all is well and i hear my babys little heart xxx

I'm sorry your feeling scared.  The unknown is just awful.

A babies heartbeat can be detected by ultrasound anywhere from 5 1/2 to 7 weeks.  It can depend on the equipment, the skill of the tech and a host of other things.  So it doesn't mean the fetal pole and heartbeat aren't there, just that they could not be detected.

Unfortunately the only thing you can really do now is wait.  A follow up u/s should be done in about a week and that should give you your answers.  But honestly, it does not sound like there is any reason for major concern at this point.  Still, we worry and I understand that.  When are they repeating?
