pregnant or miscarriage?

I have a 3 month old daughter Sept. 5.  On October 21 had my first period.  But then bled again on Nov. 5th for 7 days.  Pregnancy test neg on Dec. 4. Positive on Dec 17 and 20.  HCG levels aren't doubling.  First one 282, two days later 366, two days later 400's.  Then on Dec. 29 HCG 650 Ultrasound showed no evidence of a pregnancy, but 2 cysts on my right ovary(corpus luteum).  Thickened lining in my uterus 3cm.  Possible tissue from pregnancy or placenta.  No baby,no sac.  Today, Dec. 31 light brown spotting, mild cramping but HCG rose again!  870. Still not doubling, but rising.  Any thoughts.  Also, they didn't see fluid in my uterus or a bulge to assume ectopic.

Actually, my brown spotting turned to pink yesterday and now today I'm definitely having a miscarriage.  I've passed lots of blood and tissue.  Thanks to those who answered my question.

pregnancy can produce unusual symptoms,,you sound like you may have two different things happening at once a possible problem with ovarian cysts which could expalin the cramping and you may be early pregnant..you hcg wouldnt be going up for any other reason...

many women spot especially brown during pregnancy and go on to have a healthy baby,,,it happened to me,,I spotted, bleed off and on for 5 months and my son wa born a healthy weight and fine...best wishes,,

That is odd.  How many days post ovulation were you when they did the ultrasound?  If you are pregnant and they did the ultrasound too early, before 5 or 6 weeks pregnant, they may not see anything yet.  If your hcg numbers keep going up I would assume you are pregnant and go back in 1 or 2 weeks for another ultrasound.  Are you having your blood taken every couple days to check the hcg number?  good luck!
