Chance of getting monkeypox by waxing

Hello,

Before monkeypox started I used to go to a waxing salon for waxing the back, buttocks and around anus area. The person who does the waxing is a guy that also does massages and I believe sex massages.

My question is how risky would waxing these areas be for monkeypox? If the person wears latex gloves would be safer?

Thanks for your time,

You won't get it from someone waxing you if they are wearing gloves.

https://www.cdc.gov/poxvirus/monkeypox/if-sick/transmission.html

From the CDC:

"Direct contact with mpox rash and scabs from a person with mpox, as well as contact with their saliva, upper respiratory secretions (snot, mucus), and areas around the anus, rectum, or vagina.

This direct contact can happen during intimate contact, including:

*Oral, anal, or vaginal sex, or touching the genitals (penis, testicles, labia, and vagina) or anus of a person with mpox
*Hugging, massage, and kissing
*Prolonged face-to-face contact"

If you don't go to that waxing salon anymore, and haven't had any symptoms, you're fine. Also, you don't know that the guy doing it does "sex massages". That's likely pure speculation and fear talking.

You are far more likely to get covid, the flu, strep, or a host of other viruses from someone being close to you than mpox right now.
