I did go to an opthalmologist with no luck. Looked inside my eyes and didn't see any indication of ON. However he did want to have a look at an MRI to see if the problem was behind the eye. My thyroid func. test was fine and lyme's disease doesn't appear in my part of the world so am thinkin lupus. My CBC's did show consistently leukopenia caused by neutropenia. I also had on many occasions lymphocytosis and a platelet count on the low end of the range. However my esr and ANAs remain normal.
There are other nasty rheumatological diseases besides lupus. Plus, there's thyroid disease, Sjogren's, and Lyme disease that can cause neurological symptoms.
I'd also would want to see an opthamologist to find out why you have blurry vision.
well my ANA and esr have remained normal however i do believe i have it as i have a list of symptoms plus recent bloodwork which suggest it. My rheum's goin to review them all tomor.
Lupus can cause ON and neurological symptoms. It's worth looking into. Have you seen a rheumatologist or had any tests to rule this out?
Deb
Well for a couple weeks i took b12 pills with no change in the weekness i was feeling or other symptoms. But i guess if it were b12 i'd need intramuscular injections. I really doubt this though, i also think i have lupus cuz whatever it is, really resembles auto-immune and appeared soon after i caught an infection
Just one thought. Be sure they check out your b12 levels to make sure you don't have Pernicious Anemia. I'm not suggesting that you have this, but it is something to check out - an easy fix too!
Good luck.
Thanks. Easier said than done but am gonna try...
I wish I could tell you what is going on - just don't give up looking for answers. Hang in there,
