A Book - My MS Bible

I'd like to highly recommend a book for everyone with an interest in Multiple Sclerosis.  I was given a copy during a seminar several years ago.  Many questions can be answered in a way I've not heard before.  Good to have on hand to read up on a particular subject before going to your neurologist too.

The name of the book is "Managing The Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis" by Randall T. Shapiro, Medical Director, Fariview Multiple Sclerosis Center - Fairview University Medical Center
and
Clinical Professor of Neurology, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
It is in it's Fifth Edition.  I refer to this book frequently and it gives an in depth explanation for the symptoms and treatments for MS.  It is the most useful and comprehensive book I've come across.

It costs $20.00 and can be found by googling the title.

I am about half-way through my 5th edition used book  - bought through Amazon.com used book seller.

This is an excellent book - Karen was spot on with the recommendation.  If you are looking for a good book to read and keep as a resource, I would recommend Dr. Schapiro's voume.

my best,
Lulu

Sometimes they are older editions - its a c rap shoot but for the $8 I'll take a chance.  On amazon you can always write the seller and ask them what edition the book is that they have to sell.  I have bought lots of books this way.

Amazon is a good idea.  Just be sure it's the Fifth Edition.  There is a book preview online too.  Check it out - you'll see what I mean.

Ah ha, Amazon.  I never thought about going that route.  I just came from the bookstroe and sure enough I didn't see a single copy of it this time.  So, I'm off to Amazon to see if I can find a used copy for so cheap.

Great idea Lu.

I have seen this book at my favorite bookstores and have skimmed through it many times.  I keep telling myself I want to buy it, but never get around to it.  Well, it is my day off today and I'm going to probably spend some time inthe bookstrore and think its time to finally get a copy of my own.

To anyone who would like to have a good MS resource, this book is definitely worthwhile, not only for you but your family and friends as well.

Thanks Karen for the book review and suggestion.
