A DELICATE LITTLE SUBJECT! BLADDER MISBEHAVING

Hey Everyone!

I just started on Vesicare for my annoying bladder, and I was just wondering, I was told that my bladder problem was neurological.  How does this med help something that is being caused by the CNS.

Also, anyone else who has this bladder problem, along with the frequency, urgency, incontinence etc, do you ever get sharp pains, tingling (I know that should be a good thing right!), numbness, a feeling like something is dripping out but it isn't, and last but not least, itching in certain spots?  Is this part of the sx process for this what it is it called a neurogenic bladder?

As I understand it, the bladder has to contract for us to urinate.  The drugs we take - I am on Sanctura for my bladder - relax that bladder muscle.  My neurogenic bladder is quite content to let the drug be in charge, much like other drugs such as baclofen might work for our limbs and other muscles.

Yes, this can be a life hindering problem and you can reclaim your life if you can get the bladder under control.  It's worth the dry mouth to be able to go 3 hours or longer between pit stops.  I know because that was my life for too long.

be well, Lulu

Hi there,
I take or should I say I was taking vesicare for bladder urgency, painful bladder spasms and I was also getting burning on an extreme nature in that region, I kept thinking I had UTIs but it was neurological and another problem according to my urologist and neurologist I have two issues.

I found that Vesicare worked brilliantly for my urgency and spasms, it took about a week to get in my system but I dubbed it the wonder drug as it honestly changed my life, or was life changing, I could go out and not be governed by my bladder, ie: searching for nearest toilets etc.  I used to and still go to a lot of horse events that are in remote areas and I used to have to take a bucket and pee in my horse float out of sight as the lines to the loo were always too long and there was only ever one toilet. Vesicare has changed that for me, you take your bladder and toileting for granted but I had also had accidents. Hmm

Down side of Vesicare is an EXTREME dry mouth and I mean extreme but it does get better and now for me EXTREME constipation, I have been on it for about 5mths and I was warned by both the neuro and the uro that it can affect this part of my body, but I also think i have loss of some function there too which wouldn't help.

I went to my GP and got some stuff to help with the constipation after following advice on this forum but was so bad and with little improvement I decided to ditch the Vesicare for a while, bad move, my problems have come back and I am still constipated!!! Not sure now what to do..
B.T.W. I was on 10mg of Vesicare, and asked a similar question on this forum yesterday about Vesicare.

Cheers,
Udkas.

Hi sandie, my bladder problem was frequency and urgency. I used to get up 5 to 8 times at night, and now I only have to get up once or twice per night because of my prescription of Detrol LA. (i'm not sure if this is like Vesicare or not)

I don't recal ever getting the pains, tingling, etc you're asking about. Maybe it's because i'm a male...or i just don't remember.
