Alternative medicine

Hello all,

I know there has been some mention of alternative medicines and ms.  I have had few accupuncture sessions and just sent off prescriprion for some chinese medicine (all herbal).  I am not seeing my accupuncurist til 5th September now,...

One accupuncurist (not the one trating me currently)  said accupuncture is quite popular with people with ms and they concentrate not only trating the symptoms but also slowing down the progression of it.

I do wonder if anyone else has had accupuncure and what your experience is?

Take care

I have been a big believer in the power of Eastern medicine.  I had a severe car accident in 2003, paralyzed for a week, and unable to walk for a month.  I used nearly pure Eastern techniques to regain strength.  The western doctors told me to rest and gave prescription meds to help ease pain.  I saw a chiropractor who also performed massage techniques and rehabiliation type exercises.  It was a blend of Eastern and Western and I found myself running a marathon in a year.

I also had been diagnosed with a Schotsky ring (a growth in the esophagus that is the bodies defense against severe acid reflux, but at the same time, closes your esophagus),  I had WEstern medicine remove the ring, and then used Eastern relaxation and nutrition to help with the acid reflux.  This was in 2005, and just a few months ago, I was informed that the gastritis and the hiatel hernia are both gone.

I hope it works for you like it did with me.  I believe the trick is just that, believing it will work.  Faith is a powerful thing, and Eastern medicine uses the body as a system, so it has to be an integral part of its effectiveness.

I know that the Western medical community is starting to recognize the value of Eastern medicine, especially acupuncture, as 'complementary' treatment.  This is what I read in fluff mags like Discover magazine and Psychology Today.  So don't quote me.

You can be our guinea pig.  A friend of mine swears she finally got pregnant through acupuncture....

So be sure you use protection!  ; )
