Am I crazy - what does vertigo feel like

O-kay ... am I crazy?  I feel dizzy and light-headed.  Is this real, or am I just imagining that I feel this way because I know something is wrong.  What does vertigo feel like?  Nothing is spinning, but I feel like I am moving when I'm sitting still. Also, my foot has been hurting me since yesterday.  It feels cold and heavy and it aches.  I think I need to take my mind off all of this MS stuff, but I can't.  I just finished my Solu-Medrol on Sunday, shouldn't I feel great?
Sorry to B****, but I don't know what else to do!

Katie, there is nothing crazy about being concerned about unexplained body happenings.  the dizziness and light headedness you are describing doesn't quite sound like vertigo to me.

I think if you have vertigo, you would have no doubts and definitely know you have it

The others are right, you do need to records these symptoms and let your doctor know.  These feelings are not normal and could come from a variety of causes, including a side-effect of the solumedrol, a chemical /nutrition imbalance, or something  easily fixed like dehydration.  The point is, we can't and shouldn't be second what is going on with you.

It is awfully hard to push this MonSter into the corner and tell it to be quiet and not bother you for a while.  Believe me, you will find that the times comes eventually when you will almost forget that it is your companion.  I hope that happens soon for you.

hugs, Lulu

Mine feels like i am trying to walk in a small rowing boat on a choppy lake. WEEEEEEEE.........highly unamusing. less dizzy, more, like wtf can i hold on to to stop me toppling over.

Just for a laugh, (because sometimes we need to, and this MS thing really is NOT amusing!), so many times when I see a thread entitled, 'Am I Crazy?, I am SO tempted to write, "Well  of course you are dear, but join the club!"

Hope you're ok. It's very hard to not be scared. I am fighting that right now..

   Hi Katie :)

I think that people describe Vertigo in different ways as it pertains to them!

Vertigo is a sensation of spinning, whether it feels like you are spinning or your surroundings are rotating. Think back to when you were a child and spun around and around, then stopped -– that’s pretty much the sensation of vertigo. It can feel like:

The ground is suddenly rushing upwards
The room (or surroundings) is moving continuously
The room only seems to rotate part of the way, return to normal, and rotate partway again
It rarely persists for a long time, but can take weeks to go away, which it does gradually.

So, in a nut Shell, "Nope" You are not Crazy :)  It is always good to let Neuro know so that it can be charted and he may want you to come in and take a peak at you.
Also, if you keep a Journal or something, you may want to jot down when it started, how long it lasted, and how it feels, as well as if there is a contributing factor that intensifies it more.

Hope you feel better soon,
~Tonya

My vertigo feels like I'm on a slowly moving tilt-a-whirl ride. Almost like I'm being pulled to the right. But, I've been having low-level vertigo for a couple months now (not continuous, luckily!) and that is a groggy headed dizzy feeling. I know it is going to start because my eyes feel like they are rolling around in my head (like a cartoon character would...my eyes are fine, but it feels like they are moving).

I agree with Paula, give your doctor a call.

I hope you feel better soon!

Katie,

fiest off youa re not crazy, you know what you are feeling and experiencing. Sometimes symptoms come one after another. My vertigo feels like the whole world is spinning at times. Cant close my eyes and stand still cause I will fall over.

Not sure how you should feel about the solu-medrol I have never taken it but I am sure others will chime in and anser that for you.

Call your doctor and explain what you are feeling. I know you had a bad experience with the receptionist last time but call and get through or call your GP so that you can get some meds for the dizziness.

Take Care,

Paula
