I'm glad you checked back in to report the outcome from the injections - now fingers are crossed that you will have positive results. hugs, Laura
I went in today for my 1st round of Botox injections for my MS spasticity from having lesions in my spinal cord. My neuro gave me almost 30 injections - from my neck all the way down in-between all my ribs on both sides of my spine & then over by my right shoulder blade. I asked her before she started and my back was facing her, "Does it hurt?" She said, "Yes." LOL I guess she doesn't believe in not telling the truth. Actually, only 2 of them really hurt & a little bleeding with each of them. The rest were do-able.
She used an EMG needle with each injection to make sure the muscle was spastic before she injected. All of them were really spastic. Almost yelling, she said, “OMG, listen to that!” when she inserted the needles & the EMG sounded like huge amount of static or engines going or something really loud & awful. She said that I have so much spasticity. I already have the next ones schedule out to do again in 3 months. They said I would be sore/stiff for the next 10 days from it. So, I won't know if it's going to work until after that time. A normal muscle at rest is silent on an EMG. Here’s a link - http://electrodiagnosis.net/EMG_NCS/Services_EMG_Normal_Abnormal.html
Thanks - I guess I'll find out on Friday. I'm not going in with a good mindset.
I'm shocked that any medical person would tell a patient that somehting will hurt that bad and that long. Nothing like planting the suggestion and the worried and doubts. Shame on her.
If anything, it should be the opposite because the botox is going to help block the pain signal. in my botoxed bladder, I feel absolutely nothing after this is done - it shuts down all the signals.
Be sure to ask your doctor about the pain question - she should know that you have these worries and also hear that her nurse needs to be reeducated about the procedure. Fear has no place in our treatment plan.

I'm getting severe rib spasms that I'm wondering whether it's this dreaded hug thing. They have improved over the last couple of weeks but still really horrible. Luckily they only last about 20 minutes at a time but can be many times a day.
Can you afford a trip to Chch? My father in law is a musculoskeletal specialist and he did wonders for my back issues. He's unfortunately out of the country at the moment though.
No haven't had it done but very keen to hear how it goes. I'm having awful troubles with my ribs at the moment, particularly at night in bed when I've got nothing else to distract me.
