CT scan of brain

a note is made of a 3 mm ring calcification in the right posterior fossa slightly inferior and lateral to the 4th   ventricle (image 6 ) this finding may be extra axle  or intra axle at the anterior periphery of the cerebellum. It is of a questionable acute significance.  What does this mean.. I have been having horrible headaches on the side of my head and bottom of the back of my skull. This is why the scan was done.

If MS is a possibility, you will definitely need an MRI. Have you been seen by a neurologist?

also on the ct was a subcentimeter hypodensity  near the base of the left basal ganglia which probably represents a prominate Vichow-robin space.

CT scans are not used to diagnose MS. MRIs are used with contrast and MS protocal. I am not sure what they are looking for.

Welcome to the group dna -

We're not doctors, including radiologists. What knowledge we have collected related to imaging is largely associated with MRI rather than cat scans.

With that said, I'm not sure what a calcification is. The language we hear most often includes terms like signal stgrength and hyperintensity.

DO you hae symptoms other than the headaches?

I would wait on your Dr. visit and let him or her tell you what it means, reason I say this is because the statement here,

"It is of a questionable acute significance."

Basically means the person reading the MRI is leaving it up to your Dr to make the determination of its significance.
