Cross country champion runs with MS
The North Carolina class 4a state champion, Kayla Montgomery, was diagnosed three years ago at age 15.

Kayla was 11th at regionals last week; she needed to be in the top 10 to qualify for nationals. She did run a PR of 17:22. (I ran a 5k faster than that only once, a 17:13 on the track as a college freshman.)
