Doctors appointment for joint pain- Update.

I saw my regular family doctor this morning because of the return of joint pain and foot pain. Luckily staying off my feet on Sunday & Monday helped the foot pain, I have not had the sharp stabbing pain since Sunday. I told my doctor I had the exact same problem with my joints last year starting at this time. I told him I think I must have seasonal joint pain disease. He said there is no seasonal joint pain diseases. He thinks it is developing arthritis. I told him that is not nearly exotic enough, and I don't want any boring diseases like that :-)

He re-ran all the tests I had last year-
Blood work for:
Complete blood count
Full metabolic work up
rheumatoid arthritis
Lupus
inflammation
and a few others that I can't remember.

He also sent me for x-rays of both feet, both ankles, and my left elbow.

If everything comes back normal like it did last year, I will ask to see a specialist that would treat muscle issues. I'm honestly thinking a lot of it might be muscle related. My lower back and hips now hurt. When I put my leg out straight and pointed the toes up my entire leg right up to the hip/lower back hurt, like I was stretching way too far. I did not say anything about spasticity, but I have my suspicion that is what is causing most of my issues. In the morning I hobble around like I'm 95 years old!

He wants me to take Celebrex. He did say I could try to take it on an "as needed" basis but I might have to take it daily. Have any of you guys tried Celebrex? He called in the prescription, but insurance needs to approve it first.

I should know the blood work and x-ray results tomorrow.

Jess,

I hope that it helps! I am going myself soon for the leg pain that they can't find the cause for. I just want the pain to go away and these constant tests and doctors aren't coming up with answers just exhausting me so that's why I am choosing PT next.

Good luck - keep us posted
Hugs,
Erin :)

Erin,

Physical therapy is a great idea! I went for a few sessions about 5 years ago when my back was acting up. I think I might go the PT route before I try to see a specialist.

Great idea! Thanks!

Update to my update LOL

The x-ray results are in already and everything looks normal...just like I thought. I do not have swelling or redness, just pain.

Blood work results should be back tomorrow. I have a feeling I'll be sent to see a specialist. I just might fulfill my lifelong goal of seeing every type of doctor known to man LOL O_o

Jess,

It sounds like he was very thorough and I love the fact that you get results back so fast!

I am sorry that you are suffering so much pain though that is miserable.

I took celebrex years ago and I remember that it helped a little bit but there was a recall in 2004. They took it off the market due to findings of increased risk of heart attack, stroke and blood clots in patients that took it for more than a year. My mother took it also and neither of us had any side effects from it just stopped because of the recall.

Have you tried physical therapy? It might help to be evaluated and then go for a few sessions and see if it helps. If it is muscle they can help you with range of motion excersizes (sp?) and even give you some to do at home before bed and in the morning to help you not feel 95 anymore, lol.

Good luck & keep us posted on your results
Hugs,
Erin :)
