Gold Star Question!

Intrigued. Can someone explain the relevance regarding these gold stars attached after each members profile identity? I noticed there were 3 after mine, and now 2. Not certain what the increasing to decreasing symbols indicates.

I'm an administrator for a different site non relevant to health content but admittedly, our global organization doesn't utilize this function. Not sure if it involves longevity status or answer content information so thought I would inquire members and administrators alike on this one.

Ahhhh .... Just found the answer. Bottom right side of page under "learn about top answers". Based on this explanation, perhaps a "badge" decrease for me indicates a negative notch down?! :-) ;-)   Oh my.

I go up and down all the time. I wondered whether it was because the badges were for a specific time frame (week?  month?) ... if I'm less active, I'm farther down the list.
lol first time i've heard of reward stars decreasing, you bad bad girl you :D

Once upon a time in the forgotten land of yesterdays medhelp lol responding posters received 'best answer stars', they use to be yellow and only visible on your profile page....now your stars show themselves overlapping your avatar, they are blue, the max number of stars that will come up is 5.

There are some communities that are highly invested in their stars, but best answer stars have not been something this community gives a hoot about.....best answers often doesn't apply to the topics we discuss, so we often just ignore that option.

cheers......JJ

btw the CL's for some odd reason do not get their stars, still waiting for that fixer-upper, oh but we do get a purple thingy that's suppose to be a compass instead of our Community Leader purple flower lol
Too funny !!!
lol i've got 80 of the little twinkly things, hmmmm not going to get them all on that itty bitty circle :D

5 is the max but how many you have to have for the 1-5 that show, i don't actually know....think of them as incentive carrots, basically the same as likes or thumbs up. This little chick doesn't consider them meaningful in the grand scheme of things....

Cheers....JJ

The best answer yet..... Thx JJ... Appreciate your answer. Wondered what the emphasis in significance was. Now I know ... Not much ... Lol lol luv your answer as it brought a smile ;)

I think the stars are is based on how many answers you provide in the forum.

I do not know if the number changes in a descending manner however as others answer more and you answer less. That would be the only thing that I can think of for the number of stars to change.

I will be interested to hear what others chime in with.

That could very well be. Or the increase or decrease based on activity v. inactivity for periods of time? Curious what other explanations will surface also.
