Favorite websites - take 2
Hello everyone,
A while back there was a discussion going on that asked for your favorite websites so they could be compiled into a health page. There is so much out there on the web and the thinking is we are a pretty savy group of consumers and can tell the good from the bad.
Well that request backfired because the bleeping censor on this site ****'d most all of the responses that people gave, rendering them unreadable.
So here is that request again, but in a different format please.
Would you kindly only send one website at a time, and include with it a sentence of two of WHY it is worthy to be included on our list. Do not use any of the phrases that set off our censor - do not include any of the following

. c o m or any other ending. instead try just adding the period and the first letter, such as c for c o m or o for o r g

Summary: Wonder what those tests are for that your doctor ordered or what the results mean? This site is put together by laboratory technicians with insider information of all those tests. An extra bonus - it is international and you can look at test standards for other countries besides the US.
Again, if you just add one page suggestion at a time it will make it easier for me to construct this health page.
I sure hope this works - we have asked medhelp to turn the censor off on the health page when it goes up.

I like Health Talk *******. It is not unlike this site in that it has several different health issues you can click on and also has a blog. There are live broadcasts once a month I think that have RSS feed. I have that podcast on my mp3 player. The broadcasts are available either by phone or online and you can submit questions to the panel ahead of time.

This contains links that explains in depth the 7 areas that should be covered in a neurological exam. It explains how each test should be preformed, and it also shows after each test what problems could occur, and what part of the body's system they could be linked to.

The Accelerate Cure site also has a lot of interesting info. They are trying to fund research to understand the causes of MS in order make it easier to find a cure (after six years of idiopathic peripheral neuropathy, i.e. we're clueless as to what is causing your problem and there's nothing to be done about it that isn't completely random, this approach really appeals to me). The have what they call "cure map" documents at

They talk about what is known about MS and genetics, nutrition, pathogens, toxic agents, and trauma, as well as their own research and development of "a large-scale collection of biological samples and data from people with multiple sclerosis, selected other demyelinating diseases, and unaffected controls" for use by researchers (if you live near one of the centers they're associated with you might want to participate in this).
Another worthwhile project (that is easier to participate in because all you have to do is fill out questionnaires) is the North American Research Committee On Multiple Sclerosis (NARCOMS) Project (patient registry) at
