Full Plate - off topic!

Hi all,
Here is my list of excuses for being AWOL lately.  I have had a string of events lately, the most significant being my 92 MIL in the hospital for a week with pneumonia and was moved to a rehab nursing center late last night. She has no peers, and only two sons who are neither particularly good in the nurturing category so that is falling to her DIL's... you can construct the rest of this picture.

School started back this week and the usually beginning of the term craziness has for some reason been multiplied about 10 fold.  Here's hope the faculty and students get into their groove soon, leaving me a few minutes here and htere to check in on this wonderful forum during the day.

MY trip to Cinci on Wednesday  to meet with the heart researcher doctor was good, but time consuming, and used almost the whole day. The appt. was over 2 hours, more time than I even spend with my neuro.  Finally I have a doctor who is older than me - I have all these young doctors so it was refreshing to meet with a grandfatherly type, :-)

My internet connection at home died - my wireless router must be to blame and will get replaced this weekend.  In the meantime tonight I am using the signal from my neighbor's wireless network.  Bless whoever is "Wolf" becuase the unsecured signal is strong enough in my family room to use.  I must note here that my wireless network is also open and available to anyone in the neighborhood who wants to tap in and use it!

So those are just a few of my excuses for neglecting all of you here.  Believe me, I would love to spend more time here and hopefully it will quiet down in the next few days.   I miss you so much because I really do get a lot from reading your posts.

Lots of love to all of you,
Lulu

I am so excited that you won this lottery.  How cool is that!  You'll make great strides with having a one-on-one relationship with a trainer.  It made a difference for me when I hired a trainer a few years ago, but that was for only a month.  You get a whole semester!!  Wow, that is really a great opportunity.   Good luck with it.

So for a fun note here - I had a message to call our wellness office yesterday.  My name was selected as one of the lucky ones to get a personal trainer for the semester. Names were drawn by lottery from interested faculty and staff.

The trainer is  a student who is a senior in the program - this is like student teaching but with the health aspect.  Maybe now those final 10-20 pounds will disappear?

I had bought a good book on MS and exercise and will give that to her as a guide.  I forewarned the wellness program staff that I have health issues and what they are,  and the director thought it would be good real life experience.  My trainer's name is Maggie and I'm sure I will have more to tell you as the semester goes on.

The best part is being right here at my work site on campus, I have no excuses to not go and meet with her.  It is all way too convenient.

My best to all, Lu

Laura,

Sounds like overload to me.  Best of luck with your MIL, and all the other things going on with you.  You are missed, but we understand how life will intrude at times.

Take care of yourself, and know we are all hoping for the best for you.

Hugs,
doni

We sure miss your posts, but understand what is going on in your life right now.  Take as much time as you need to take care of yourself and family and come back when you can.  I hope our MIL is doing and make as smooth as possible transition to the nursing home.  It is so hard to leave behind familiar surroundings, but eventually she will adapt and probably make lots of new friends.  Please stay in touch when you can. And, good-luck with your procedure next week.  Let me know how it goes.

Hugs,

Julie

Nice try - we all know that you have secretly taken a trip to Hawaii to Join Fluffy's mom & you did not want us to find out  :)  ha   ACTUALLY - I am sure with as busy as you are right now that you would need to take a vacation soon.  Thanks for the update & you stay well.

Whoa Nelly!  That's a lulu of a list.  You're off the hook.  We'll handle the forum and be glad to see you when you can get back.

I hope the MIL settles down and accepts what has happened.  We went through that with my grandparents, except they were brought to live with us and it was a strained time indeed.

Get the 'puter fixed.  You know you want to check in when you are at home.

You've been working overtime here, so you can rest some.
