Heart in throat

I was just wondering if anyone has felt like thier heart is kinda like floating up to thier throat?  It has happened to me quite a bit in the past 6 months or so and usually at night when I'm laying down.  But today it happened during the day while doing some chores?  Anyone have an idea as to what this could be?

Thanks
Zeta

I have had this incredible spasm lump in my throat at least a dozen times since January.  It feels like my airway is shut off when it happens.  It has happened when I was asleep but has also happened while I have been awake.  Each time it has resolved on its on, thankfully.  But each of these times has felt like the symptoms did in my throat from my HA in January.

I think I need to do more research on MS, throat spasms, and other esophageal issues.
Be well,
Lulu

PS - no I didn't mention this to my neuro - we've been too focused on getting my ms dx done.

I just had this happen to me today.  First time.  It is a wierd sensation.  It felt like spasms and/or heartbeats right in the center of my throat.  I woke up to it this morning.  I'm in the middle of a flare, I guess.  I've been on Steroids for a week now and didn't expect to get a new symptom.  Although, I guess a spasm wouldn't be new for me just in a new location.

Did you ever mention it to your Neuro? My curious mind wants to know.

Thank you for your insight.  I was afraid that it could be some sort of heart spasm or somthing because thats kind of how it felt.  Now I will definetly talk to my Dr. about it when I see him!  I'm just waiting for my mri results to come in within the next few days and I'll mention it then.
I'll keep you posted.

Thanks Again

Could you perhaps be experiencing a spasm ?  I did back in January that began in my throat and eventually caused a heart attack.  I found medical literature about patients who have MS and cervical lesions experiencing these spasms and even some that went into heart attacks because of the spasms.

Of all the symptoms that I experience, this heart in throat spasm is the one that makes me stop and really listen to my body.  It doesn't hurt but does cause me almost to panic because it feels almost like it is obstructing my airway.

Whatever it is, I am glad you are going to talk to your doctor about it.  Keep us posted, ok?

Be well,
Lulu

Thanks for your replies!  This feeling is very strange but with no pain or discomfort.  It's not like acid reflux...very hard to explain.  It's more like what operamba said like an incredible heartbeat pulse with a fullness in my throat.  I guess I should tell my Dr. since it's been happening for so long.

Thanks again you guys!

Is it like a burning sensation in your throat?  Is it terribly uncomfortable feeling?  Have you ever been diagnosed with acid reflux?  This is what it sounds like to me...I have a hiatus hernia which causes the acid to "reflux" from my stomach up into my throat and it can get incredibly bad when lying down!  I am on Prevacid for it now but if I miss a pill do I ever suffer.  You have to watch what you are eating and drinking and it might give you a clue as to what it is...and when it happens when you lie down, try taking a Rolaid or another OTC heartburn relief tablet or liquid and see if it will help.  Try to avoid coffee, tea, tomatoes, spicy food, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, cranberry, mashed potatoes, french fries, raw onion, liquor, wine, chocolate, doughnuts, corn chips, regular potato chips.  These are the things that regularly trigger trouble for me and it might help you.  You should bring this up to your doctor though...persistent acid reflux can cause serious problems as recently proven by monotreme's husband Craig.  The reflux has caused severe inflammation of the esophagus which has caused such serious swallowing issues that  and he will have to have it stretched in order that he can continue swallowing on his own.  So please have this checked if for nothing other than your piece of mind ok?  Let us know what the doctor says ok?

Lots of Hugs,

Rena
