Heat Wave!

I hope that everyone is keeping cool. As much as I hate to complain about the heat, since I hate the now ans winter, it has been crazy this week and it's supposed to remain in the 90s all week.  Today, where I live, I think that it only got up to 90 (still pretty hot for Michigan), but we had a heat index of 101 degrees, so it felt a lot hotter. The humidity has been between 90%-100%. It's been completely unbearable. It's pretty hard to breathe. I can't even stand to leave the house! Unfortunately I have to go to work, but once I am home I stay there and don't leave.

I have noticed that this weather seems to be a trigger for my migraines which get worse when the barometric pressure drops. I also notice with the changes in barometric pressure that I have quite a a bit of pain in my left arm and leg (mainly in my hand, wrist ankle, and thigh). Neither Ibuprofen or Naproxen seem to be helping the migraines or the pain.

Does anyone have similar experiences with the heat and humidity. What do they usually find brings them relief?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm just south of Grand Rapids and today was 97 with a heat index of 102, but it is supposed to be 127 by 8pm. Blech! This is my first house with central air and I am sooo thankful for it!

I honestly love summer and love to be outside. I do not like winter. If it was just in the low-mid 80s and not so humid, I could find ways to cope and deal with it, but this past week has been INSANE! Even "healthy" people are miserable!

It's the pain and migraines that I can't stand and I seem to mostly get it when the humidity is REALLY intense or when the barometric pressure drops.

I've been missing in action around here, but had to check in.  I'm so miserable with the heat I could (well, I don't know what I could do).  I can't afford to cool my home, so I am in my bedroom with a window unit going to try to keep it around 80, but my son and daughter are in here with me, as are my two dogs and a new kitten.  I feel like I'm reaching "hospice" status.  I am getting scared, and I don't want to feel that way!

I have had a problem with sweating when doing the least bit of moving around, and I don't regulate my temperature well anymore.  But the sweating is paralyzing.  I just don't move anymore.  I feel like moving to Alaska - if I could gather the strength and energy!

I wish the best to all who suffer - I am a true believer, that MS is worse in high heat.

Blessings, Jan

I have a terrible reaction to heat.  i become a rag doll.

It's hot here in Ann Arbor.  Heat indexes in the high 90's or more.  Thursday the heat index will be 104 and with this much humidity it's unbearable.

Last night I sat out on the deck at 11pm.  I felt like I was in a swamp in Mississippi, no breeze, near 100%humidity and sweat was pouring out of me .  yuck!

Stay inside everyone.

Yes, it is so hot here in Texas too.  I went to visit family in Amarillo last week and I thought it would be better bcause og the dry heat, instead of the humidity here.  But I really didn't notice a difference at all.

I know how everyonr fels!!!  Can't wait for fall.  It'll probably still be a lil hot during Oct.  It was like ha last yr.  Not hot like it is now, but not as cool as it usually is in Oct.  Oh well, we gotta do it.

Oklahoma is really bad, I hear.  Texas isn't much better - I'm in DFW, and temps here have been around 101° - with a heat index of 108° or so.

We've been going through a lot of popsicles, lime bars, and ice cream bars.

I'm starting to wonder if it's going to be this way for the rest of my life here in Texas, and I can't live this way.  This is horrible.

It's here too, sister.

I think italian ice is in order - daily! Ice cream will only feed the cranium pain, hah. Or whatever is decadent and lightens our load, and cools our temps!

One of my friends is in Oklahoma too and she said it has been pretty rough there and has been hard on her asthma. I remember the humidity being pretty rough in OKC the last time that I was there.

I hear you loud and clear... It's been over 100* here for 15 days straight with 115* - 120* heat index... I live in Oklahoma... It's miserable here... My pain is also much worse this year than in summers past... All I can suggest is to keep as cool as possible...

I do take pain pills and they seem to help part of the time but I still have days when even that doesn't help... Hopefully someone will jump in here and give us both some suggestions...

I'll be praying,
Carol
