Hi-People with MS get a discount on electricity!

Hi,  I just got a flyer from my electric company which states that people with (among other things) MS can get a discount on their rates for "heating and cooling needs to prevent the deterioration of the persons medical condition".

It is actually not just for MS, but other conditions (including autoimmune issues) or, from what the form states, anything your doctor deems a condition that requires "additional heating and/or cooling".

There is also a list of medical devices that qualify as well, if they are used for someone that is a primary resident of the home.

I thought this was great; we run our a/c alot during the summer, as I am sure many do.  I also have to sleep with a fan blowing on me, just so I can pretend I am in an M-TV music video.  Ok, not so much for that.  Love to you all, Amy

Oh, I found the form by looking for "medical baseline rates" under my electric provider.

I found the information on line for Ohio residents at this address -

http://www.puco.ohio.gov/PUCO/Consumer/Information.cfm?id=4062

It appears that there is cooling and heating assistance for people with qualifying medical conditions who meet income guidelines.

It all adds up ---- the specific programs are toward the bottom of the page.

*bump* so everyone gets a chance to read this excellent money saving tip.  I'm still searching if this program also happens in Ohio - I have to call my electric company to find out.

Perhaps if others find there is such assistance in their states they can add it to this post?

be well, be wealthy!
or at least be qualified and save some precious $$

You're welcome.  The example on my bill was this:  last year's average for this time was $264.00, with program bill would have been $200.00.

Yay!
