High WBC question!

I have MS and recently had a routine CBC that has some out of range results. My neurologist does not believe the values are due to the medication I am on or the MS itself. I am to see my physician early next week, am kind of low key freaking out but really just impatiently looking for feedback. Here are the abnormal results:

WBC: 23500
Absolute lymphocytes: 5969
Absolute monocytes: 1598
Absolute neutrophils: 15510
RWD: 15.3

I know the RWD is only slightly higher than normal and everything else was good.  Haven't been sick lately, though I do seem to get sick somewhat frequently these days. I HAVE been more tired and I'm usually pretty fatigued by the MS but not in a way that has me going to bed earlier, which has been the case. I know a high WBC count could be some scary stuff, and it's never been this high. 13000 is my next highest and that was a year and a half ago. Any thoughts?

My neurologist has stated that it's unrelated to my DMD which is Tysabri for nearly 2 years. I saw my GP today to repeat and expand on my lab work. I didn't post this here originally, it was moved here. It's not MS related.

What Drug are you on for MS? Some of them can cause your blood work to be off. If you are not on one of those drugs it is off to a Primary care for testing. My doctors says to me. "when you hear hoof beats think horses not zebras". Do not go to the more exotic illnesses. May be it is some simple infection.

Hi and welcome to our little MS community,

I'm sorry but i don't know anything much about blood test results, to be honest zilch is coming to mind today...

Information:

"A high white blood cell count usually indicates:

An increased production of white blood cells to fight an infection
A reaction to a drug that increases white blood cell production
A disease of bone marrow, causing abnormally high production of white blood cells
An immune system disorder that increases white blood cell production
Specific causes of a high white blood cell count include:

Acute lymphocytic leukemia
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML)
Allergy, especially severe allergic reactions
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia
Chronic myelogenous leukemia
Drugs, such as corticosteroids and epinephrine
Infections, bacterial or viral
Myelofibrosis
Polycythemia vera
Rheumatoid arthritis
Smoking
Stress, such as severe emotional or physical stress
Tuberculosis
Whooping cough"

Have you seen your GP yet to get an explanation, your neuro doesn't sound like he/she was very helpful...

Cheers....JJ
