Hope your cramp is better. Hopefully you are already in bed, getting ready for your neuro appt tomorrow. For a long time I kept a salt shaker by my bed. When I woke up in the middle of the night with foot or leg cramps, I would shake some in my palm and lick it off. It worked every time! Sometimes cramping is caused by being low on potassium. Sometimes those "old wives" really knew what they were talking about! LOL

Thanks for your comments.
I did soak my foot, and will get icy hot. Didnt try the salt water dip yet, but who knows, the night is young!
I appreciate all the good advice, I am seeing neuro tomorrow, so it will be on my list of questions.
Thanks!
Michelle

When this happens to me, nothing helps expect to stretch my foot, bending my toes upward toward my body, with my hand. It doesn't work to push against something, I get more stretch from using my hands.
After the cramp starts to relax a little, icy hot helps. (In fact, in the worst cramp I ever had, in a tiny muscle on the outside of my calf, where it was impossible to stretch, the icy hot did the trick on it's own. I really think I did some serious damage to that muscle with that cramp, but at least it FINALLY went away. I was ready to make my husband take me to the ER!)
Feel better soon.
Michelle, could you soak your foot in warm water for at least 30 minutes? Then softly massage it. Pushing it against a wall or door might work. Try stretching out your leg and flexing your toes towards your knees. That mostly helps with the calf muscle but should stretch the foot too.
I'm sorry you had such a day, with such physical and emotional pain. May it leave you now and never come back.

thank you all for your comments.
I tried all the above, and I am doing somewhat better now. (not the chocolate, as I have none in the house :(
After reading DJ's post, I no longer can complain. She always sets my priorities straight, thank you DJ!
This too shall pass...
Michelle

I don't have any advice just wanted to send you some ((((HUGS))))) terry
Michelle,
Besides gentle stretching - like trying to stand up on your toes to flex the musc les - can you get your husband to massage your foot?
How about trying warm compresses if the ice didn't work ? Heat a washrag in the microwave.
I am so sorry you are being hit with this tonight - scre w the fashion police and wear those good shoes all the time, ok?
Take care and I hope it settles that you get some sleep. I know it has been a difficult day and you don't need a difficult night.
my best,
L
You need to gently stretch your foot out, probably by massaging it with your hands. This is what I do or have DH do when I wake up in the middle of the night with this.
In my earlier years I did synchronized swimming (no comments from the peanut gallery) and your feet would cramp in the cold waters of the pool . We would simply put our foot against the pool wall and gently push until the cramps was gone.
Sorry you are in such misery, both physically and mentally.
Is your foot warm enough?
I hope you feel better!
Hugs,
Ren
