Internal Vibration down the backbone when bending Head Forward ? Reasons & remedy ?

Hello,
I suffered with a road accident on 12th August 2011 while riding motor bike. I was majorly hit in center of head resulting unconscious. I didnt get any major hits in visible part of body, like a fracture or anything. Just got stitches in head. I was referred to nearest city for better treatment the same day. CT scans were normal for head scans. There I suffered with I.V medicine reaction. After a week or 10 I felt a slight numbness and senselessness in hands, wrists and arms. I was unable to write properly. Soon these symptoms vanished. But now from last 20 days I am feeling the same numbness and senselessness in hands. And from last 15 days, I am feeling a very striking vibration down the backbone to toes and hand finger tips whenever I bend my neck forward.
I feel stiffness in shoulders and backs. Kindly give suggestions to the symptoms stated above.

I was in a motorcycle accident on November 6th 2012, In February of 2013 I have begun to experience the same vibration issue, Not always but often especially at work in my chair I can bend my neck forward and a strong bibration will shoot through my body. I've never felt anything like this before, I did have a pretty major concussion but it showed ok on the 2 scans. I do have some shoulder pain, and some aches and pains elsewhere but nothing major. it's weird that the symptoms match L'Hermitte's and almost all my results are this. I'm planning on seeing my doctor

I’m only 14 and I’ve been experiencing back vibrations when I bend my back, my neck and pull my knees up and down from my chest, I also am experiencing lower back pain and rib cage pain. I am very worried and do not know what to think?

Hi BT -Welcome to our little MS encrusted world :-) This thread is rather old, so you may want to post a new question, or just introduce yourself.

Kyle

L'Hermitte's Sign can point to a lot of things, MS being one. This is from Dr. Google at medicine.net.

"The causes of L'hermitte's sign include multiple sclerosis (MS), radiation damage to the spinal cord), cervical spondylosis (degeneration of the disc spaces between the vertebrae), herniation of a cervical disc, a cervical spinal cord tumor, and sub-acute combined degeneration (caused by vitamin B12 deficiency)."

I am not a medical professional but it sounds to me like a nerve has been pinched,  Maybe an MRI would show it better than a cscan?  It doesn't sound like MS but rather as a result of the accident but that is just my opinion.

Welcome to the forum sauravkbhardwaj

The 'striking vibration' sensation that you feel may be the same or completely different to the electric sensation that some people experience with MS called L'Hermitte's sign. This started only a short while ago for me with electricity running down my spine and leg but now just down the spine and into my left arm when I look down.

Of course this is not a diagnosis. You are along way off finding a satisfactory answer to your puzzling health issues since your road accident. Best advice is not to panic. I know it very distressing not feeling your usual self but you will get through this.

Book yourself into to see a doctor to get some further testing done, such as MRI of brain and spine. Hopefully you don't have MS but if you do you won't get an answer instantly, so please try to be patient and rely on your family and friends. Of course this forum is great also for support through the good, bad and ugly.

Best of luck
Alex
