I watched the film 'Hilary & Jackie' today, about English cellist Jacqueline Du Pre, who suffered from MS for 15 years until she died at age 42. It was interesting to learn about how her career and huge talent developed, and her complicated relationship with her sister. The film is controversial (in terms of whether it is telling the truth), and, quite over the top, drama-wise. As she got near the end of her life, it is pretty horrifying to be honest (after seeing it, I'm trying to reassure myself, there were no DMD's in the 70-s-80's!) But well-acted and a very good film if you're interested in a story like this.
I had a couple of her CDs before I became aware of her MS a few years ago. It seems that now I listen to her music differently, now that I know that about her. Not sure why that is..........maybe it's just that inevitable connection because of the disease.
