Lyrica question???

hi everyone, my Neuro gave me some Lyrica to use for my pain in my legs,  I took my first pill around noon today...75mg..he said to take it for a week..then go up to 150mg..two pills.

well, not long after I took it, I felt horrible...like I was drunk or stoned or something strange...I didn't make sense.. felt horrible.. then I fell asleep on the couch for a few hours.  I didn't even notice my legs..didn't care either..strange feeling.... now I've been awake for a few hours and the pain is back and feels worse then before....maybe cause I didn't feel it for a few hours..I felt out of touch..like what day is it??  who am I ??  really it was bad??

but it feels bad now...I'm abit nervous about taking these pills...do the interact with clonazapam...it said on the phamphlet..don't take it with lorazapam??  is that the same??

I think I will ask the Dr before taking it again...or maybe I should get the Gabapentin presc filled...see if it's different then Lyrica??  So confusing...what a day...

I think I should try to get some sleep again...night everyone..

I also was put on Lyrica at first from my family physician.  I also felt like I was in another world.  My judgement was out of wack and felt very nervous.  As I had no pain just the tingling sensations she kept increasing the dosage.  I felt all right after a couple of days but my family and co workers commented on my mood change and spaced out look.  She took them off of me after I had a possible side affect of the slurred speech and tunneled vision plus it never helped any of my symptoms.  Like the rest said ask your dr or pharmasist.  It's not for everyone.  Another side affect was I gained 10 lbs!!!  Would of been alright if it had positive results.  Redhead44

I mentioned this to my evil neuro last week.  I felt that the 200mg that I am up to now is not working as well as it did a month ago.  He said to increase it that dosages for Lyrica can be as his as 800mg per day.  Neurontin dosing is also seemingly high.  But you try different levels to see where you see benefit and stick there.  About the tolerance question, his response was "no".

This is just what one doc tole me and even though I don't plan on continuing as his patient, I don't have any reason to suspect he wasn't giving me correct info.  :)

Sweetie, i have been posting this all over the place, lol! I have been on Lyrica for about a year for my Spondylitis and it works like a charm, but my Neuro, Rheumotologyst and GP have been very clear that i should take it BEFORE BED. It makes you sleepy, but i assure you it helps a lot. I went back to 75mg once at night after being away from it for $$$ reasons (in my country, insurance doesn't pay for your medication) but i have been back on it ofr the past three weeks and OMG, i forgot how amazing it works for me. No pain, no needles, ,my legs work and the best, my Spondylitis is behaving! besides, i wake up rested and relaxed, not to mention it improves my mood!
I would suggest you talk to your Dr and ask him about the possibility of taking it at night and if you really need to move to a higher does. 75mg works for me, i feel great.
Hopefully, it will work for you too, but try and call or see your Dr and let him know how you've been feeling.
Hugs,
Farrah

Hey honey...I read your post about yesterday's appointment but wanted to respond about the Lyrica first!  When I was started on Lyrica I had some wicked side effects after 5 doses of 75mg each...he wanted me to take 75mg three times a day (but that was part of the overdose problems I had with this doctor).  I would call your pharmacist first because the odds are you are going to get a better answer from him as they know the drugs as a rule better than the doctors do.  He/she will be able to tell you if you should stop the medication or if it is a normal side effect to start off or not.  The problem with vertical double vision and inability to speak all started when I started taking this and it was not a pretty sight.  Julie is right when she said that some people just do not tolerate this medication well.  If in doubt, call the pharmacist ok?

Love ya,

Rena

I've been on Lyrica for 2 months now and it is really helping.

I had the same symptoms as you had in the beginning.  My neuro started me on 50mg and upped it to 100 per day the next week.  I felt like I'd just come out of a bar feeling too.  You will get adjusted to it in a few weeks, but please talk to the pharmacist or your doctor about the drug interactions with Clon.  It could be interacting and really enhancing your symptoms.

If there are no problems with the interactions then give it a try.  Keep track of your symptoms though and let the doctor know if it is really making you loopy and as he or she may not want to keep you on it.  My neuro said to let him know if I don't adjust to it as some people don't.  In that case, you will probably need to go back on the Neurontin.  I hope this was helpful.  Take good care and thanks for the help you gave me earlier.
