Taken Betseron for over 2 years--felt like flu for the first few shots then OK.  Was on Copaxone before that.  Betaseron seems to lessen the number of lesions--not stop them.  Also been on CellCept for over a year--has have helped the most as have gotten better but, since it really reduces your immune system, there are drawbacks. Have had MS since '85 (and they think 10-15 years before that) and am still walking.  Keep your chin up and keep fighting.

Hi Ladybug,

Welcome to the forum.  I'm sorry that you have been diagnosed w/MS, but am glad to see that you are doing your research.  Sometimes, it's helpful to know fully what the meds can, and cannot do.

I too, have nothing to offer ref. Betaseron experiences, except that I've heard that some Drs believe strongly in it, and I think it's one of the 1st out there for MS (I could be wrong w/that comment - please someone correct me if I am).

There are a lot of studies out there on DMT's, and Betaseron is one of them.  I hope that the Meds are not causing you more problems.  Not everyone can take them. None of them from what I've read, will "help" your symptoms.  Just have shown in studies to prolong disability.

When you say overall symptoms are "worse," is this since starting DMTs? Or, have your overall symptoms worse since they began w/no time inbetween of having even an ounce of relief?

You also mention that you are in the process of changing Drs, and that is fine.  But, I want to also ask if you've had any labs run since starting 7 mths ago.  For example, liver, WBC, CBC, etc.  This is important I think and is standard protocol when it comes to making sure the meds are not affecting your liver and cell counts.

Wishing you the best,

Be well,
SL

I am going to bump up your question, so hopefully someone will see it and answer your question.

I have no experience with Betaserson, so sorry that I can't help you.

Congrads on NO new lesions.  What wonderful news.  Sorry to hear that you are feeling well though.

I'll be keeping an eye on your post to see what kind of responses you get.

Hope you feel better dear, Heather
