Thanks for the replies.
I don't remember any injury to my back really. I fell last July but my back pain dates back long before that, my lower back pain wasn't any worse than before the fall.
I'm 33 years old and have wondered about doing a bone density test for awhile now. Which doc would I ask to do this? Primary, neuro, or pain specialist?
I just got a call from the nurse and found out that it's a fracture in the L5 of my back and that there is significant swelling in the area.
They scheduled me with a pain management specialist and neuro doc has recommended injections but said wait to see what the other doc suggests.
I have had lower back pain for years, my hips constantly pop in and out of place, the bones in my pelvis pop all the top while walking, my knees grind like crazy, I get clicking noises from many bones while walking. I feel like I'm a walking disaster.
Thanks again you two.
Hope you're both doing well!
Have you eved done a bone density test? It may be a good idea because the first place to loose bone mass is the bones of the pelvis, hips, spine. Which then makes them much easier to break. Unless you can remember a trauma to your back which may have caused a fracture? You don't mention your age etc.
I have something in my spine called "lytic lesions" which are like small holes in the bones. I have bone marrow cancer called Multiple Myeloma, and these lesions are a symtpom of this. I take a bone med that is like an osteoporosis med, but much stronger, and it has taken care of the back pain, unless I strain my back I don't notice it. (sit too long at the computer for example)
I have no experience with spine fractures. I do hope for you that it is easy to repair and that you finally get some relief. You will be in my thoughts. And just think how much better you will feel.
Isn't it weird though that a spinal fracture could last so long....five years seems a long time to have a fracture that hasnt' healed. At least to me it does but hey I am not a doctor so I have no clue.
I hope when all is said and done you turn out to feel great again.
