MRI results

i have just received my MRI results and just want an explanation of medical jargon.
the result reads:-
Midline structures including the corpus callosum, aqueduct, fourth ventricle, craniocervical junction and pituitary gland are normal.
There are multiple tiny areas of high T2/FLAIR signal scattered throughout the centrum semiovale early bilaerally close to prominent perivascular spaces in the deep white matter which are non-specific and of uncertain clinical significance but could potentially represent tiny areas of demyelination. No other focal parenchymal identified.

what does this mean?

Did you have clinical symptoms prior to the mri?  It sounds like the lesions are very small, which is more likely to represent ischemic damage or damage due to migraine.

Your neurologist will have to look at the scans himself to evaluate -- the radiologist's opinion is generally ignored.  That, coupled with the results of your neuro exam, are what your neurologist will go by when doing your evaluation.

I know it's difficult to wait for your appointment with the neurologist (I waited months) but he or she is really the only one who can help you.

Hi there. I don't know how to interpret MRIs, but thought you might find this old post useful. I know I read it a few times when I received my first MRI reports (and my second ones, too!).

Keep in mind that regardless of what the radiologists' impressions are, the neurologist is the only one who diagnosis anything.

I hope this is helpful - best of luck to you,
Cheryl
