MS With Negative Tests?

I had my first episode back in February and a second one in late May. The first time was less severe than the second. I had slight numbness, pins and needles feeling and electric shock feeling in my legs along with difficulty walking. This lasted about a week and a half. The same thing happened with this most recent episode, however it was more severe. My arms were involved this time as well. I started to have slight numbness, pain, and tremors in my left arm. Again this lasted about two weeks. Occasionally I'll have electric shock type feelings in my arms and legs still. I saw the doctor that helped diagnose me with Degenerative Disc Disease two years ago. She had me get an MRI of my entire spine and everything came back normal. She then sent me to another neurologist, who had me get an MRI of my brain, an LP, and an EEG. All the tests came back normal. She said she was testing for MS but was now "97% certain" that I do not have it. During the three weeks I had to wait for all of my test results to come back, I did some research into MS and noticed that I fit a lot of the symptoms: attacks, gait difficulty, numbness/tingling, painful shocks, fatigue, headaches, difficulty comprehending some things, dizziness, sometimes blurred vision (even though I have no other visual problems) and I urinate frequently. A good friend of mine was diagnosed with MS last year and my symptoms mimic hers, especially when hers first started. I'm not sure really what to do since all my tests came back clean. Is is possible to have clean tests but still have the onset of MS? Does it sometimes take a long while for lesions or increased protein to show up on tests? I'm just confused and frustrated. I'd really like to hear more than, "Well since everything was negative we're sure you don't have MS but we don't know what it is." Any suggestions would help :)

Hi and welcome.  You're fortunate you have a doctor who recognizes that there is still a 3% chance that you do have MS.  Many doctors declare "no MS" in the face of these type of test results.

JJ gave you a great idea - start with the health pages and learn more and then feel free to ask us anything you want to know. Here;s a good one to start with -

PS could you please break up your future posts into little blocks, many members have issues reading large blocks of text, due to sight issues. Ta :-)
