what does it mean when my mom's MRi shows she has less muscle cells in her brain, she suffers from weakness in her body (difficulty in dressing, moving, slow movements) has history of nervous breakdown and depression. How can we increase her muscle cells?

Thank you for your reply, she did visit the Neurologist and they diagonised her with having had a silent stroke and also with early stages of Parkinsons. THey have started her with the right treatment and hopefully she will start to feel better.

Are you perhaps referring to Brain atrophy and shrinkage?  The active lesions in the Brain from MS can deteriorate the nerve to a point where the nerve itself can become too damaged and die, eventually this space where the lesion was becomes empty and the brain will shrink to fill in this space.  No one knows exactly which lesion causes which symptom and you can have many lesions but few to no symptoms.  I believe I read somewhere that 1 in 6 causes a symptom, but with MS you never know, it treats us as an individual - aren't we special.

There are no muscle cells in the brain. You mom may have lost nerve cells, but most likely her symptoms result from losing the myelin or “insulation” around those cells. There is no way to replace myelin or lost nerve cells, although the body can sometimes find other already existing cells to do the job.

Many medications are available to treat the symptoms you describe, however, and those diagnosed with MS can use one of about a half-dozen disease-modifying drugs (DMDs) to help prevent future loss of myelin or brain cells.
