Hello - to all the new folks here - I hope your journey with MS is going ok. To all the old familiar faces, it is bittersweet to see the names and faces and know I just don't have time to reach out to each of you. I love you all!!
I have been immersed in the world of MS research, and am the lead patient rep for iConquerMS (google us and join our registry and find more of my contact info there). I've had amazing opportunities to work with clinicians, researchers and other people affected by MS at the national and international level and I can tell you there are so many good people in the MS field who are working at find the cure, prevent MS, and even more, develop ways to fix those of us who are already affected by MS.
All along I would write here to the newly diagnosed that if you were going to have MS, now is the best time because the researchers are devoting so much to help us, and that continues to be true. 12+ treatment options compared to the 2 types of drugs that I had offered to me initially is staggering. Personalized medicine for MS is essential.
Anyway, before I bore you all to tears, I will stop. I came by to see if the community had been told of Alex's death (HVAC) and found myself drawn in quickly to your questions. Keep asking and supporting each other. Be sure to join me over at iConquerMS to help advance research.... all of us can make a difference.
hugs to all! Laura
PS it may be another three or six months before I pass through here again, but I'll try to make it sooner.
