Muscle tightness

Hey everyone!!! It's been a while since Ive posted, just wanted to update on what's going on with me...

I have had some weird muscle tightness in my middle beck for some time now.. Maybe 8 months... Some days pretty intense

starts in my middle back and creeps around to my adnominal muscles.. Feels like I did a hundred sit up when I didn't

Then it travels down to my butt cheeks into my tail bone... Also travels up my back alongside my spine, over my shoulder blades... Sometimes it feels like it's a burning pain there

my neck kills a lot and I get a knot that tightens up and gives me headaches up the base of my skull... Not as bad as in the past though...

I've been seeing doctors for 2 years and recently my pcp said I have fibromyalgia.. He pescribed me amitrypteline low dose for pain which definately does cut down on my pain and

I know that first hand becuz I hate Taking pills and I tried a couple of times to stop taking them and the pain rages if I do. So I take them...

My reumatigist confirmed fibro with out any tests... I guess just took his word for it ( my pcp)..

So I went to the rumetologist becuz it I was in pain still and the tightness was really bad so they sent me to pt

Which I have been going for 8 weeks 1 to 2 times a week.. Which brings me to the purpose of this post...

The pt said I have lower back weakness and becuz I stand 8-9 hours a dAy  my muscles are working too hard becuz they are weak..

My flexability was really bad too so they worked on all of that.. My flexability is about up to par and my strength is much better...

BUT why would I still have muscle tightness and pain if my pt is almost over.. It's crazy..

Does anyone else have this problem...
Oh and I do have to mention, when my muscles are tight I feel very physically fit.. Right after therapy it is still tight but I know it is becuz I had a good workout

but a couple days later I am almost flabby... It's weird.. Like now that I am working out.. I have fat... Maybe I should just keep the tightness.. lol!!!

any ideas anyone...  I was hoping maybe I could help someone else here too that might have this symptom...  Any input or questions would be soooo appreciated!!! Love you all!!!

Thank you for your reply.. I was thinking the same thing... I wonder if that goes along with fibromyalgia?  I feel like when there is no tightness I don't feel much pain... Is yours under control now?? What types of stretching do you do? Do you do yoga? I was thinking of trying that... My pt works on flexability and strengh and I can do all he gives me...

But 2 days later I'm back where I started..  And when I do the stretching exercises it's not as good as when my pt does it.. He says once my muscles are stronger I won't feel pain.. says it's weak from poor core strength.. So I am wodering

Hi,

This is just a guess on my part..but from your description it sounds like you are having issues with spasticity. Here's a Health Page about it:

http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Multiple-Sclerosis/Muscle-Tone-And-Spasticity/show/159?cid=36

It's also pretty common to have weakness along with spasticity. I have issues with spasticity & weakness and it seems to cause my muscles to fatigue quickly as well. Gentle stretching can help spasticity...and muscle relaxers such as Zanaflex or Baclofen.
