Mysterious fever-any ideas?

I had the strangest experience yesterday while at work-out of no where, I started to feel very achy(much more than usual) and chilled.  I decided to take the anti-inflammatory I had skipped that morning, thinking I was just sore and cold.  After a short while, I was so chilled, I began shaking and my entire body hurt so badly I considered going home for the day-something I almost NEVER do.

My ears started to ring, like when you feel like you're about to pass out or maybe vomit, so I quickly excused myself to the breakroom to sit down.  I ended up taking my half hour lunch break, at which point I took some acetaminophen, since I knew at this point that I had a fever.

Within about an hour, I began to ache less, and the chills had begun to subside.  The combination of the Rx NSAID and the acetaminophen finally began to overpower the fever and I felt I could tolerate the rest of  the shift.

The mystery comes in because I had no other symptoms besides the fever...no cold symptoms, no nausea/vomiting/diarrhea...NOTHING.  Just an acute onset fever that was finally controlled with medication, but I have no reason for why I experienced it!!

Has anyone else had strange, unexplained fevers?  I still have no other symptoms today and the fever is either gone or controlled with the Rx diclofenac(anti-inflammatory like naproxen).  I am beginning to wonder if I might have experienced this before if it were not for the medication that I take regularly except for yesterday when I tried to see how I felt without it.

Just wondering if anyone has some advice for me...

Thanks for reading this long, wordy post!!

Be well!

Jen

Hey, talk to your PCP about your fever.  You may have a UTI.

Yes. I have a FUO. They're trying to pin down the cause of it, because whatever it is is causing neuro problems. It's looking like it's autoimmune, although not MS. Fever isn't a symptom of MS.

Have you had a urinalysis done? It's possible to have a UTI without symptoms. Definitely worth a trip to the doc.
