OT- Horse Riding today - FINGERS CROSSED!

Been ok for nearly two weeks , so finally re-booked my ride. I had what i presume was a minor relapse starting Sunday night (it's tuesday morning here now - yes, I know, you're all a bit behind the times:P) but feel relatively normal today. so FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!

it's pouring rain here, but luckily I'll be in an indoor arena. I just realised - it's Melbourne Cup day here (biggest horse race in the antipodies) so very apt day to get back in the saddle!

You're gonna have sore thighs and "sitting bones" tomorrow I bet!

I haven't ridden in 2 yrs because I've been pregnant almost the entire time. I'm clamouring  to get back in the saddle but I'm still barely an intermediate rider and it's hard finding a place to ride that suits my skill level (they seem either beginner, or advanced).

Ok, back from my ride. Went really well for about 20 minutes. But as it was a riding school horse, who had a preference for going slow, my legs worked overtime to get the b**ger moving freely, so after 20 minutes the old legs went NO MORE!!

Bar that my seat is still fine, the instructor was amazed I haven't ridden for over a decade, and I was amazed how much I still love it! we did plenty of circle work, some without stirrups (mainly because I needed to stretch my legs), most at the trot. So glad my seat is still firmly in the saddle, with or without stirrups.

Next time I think I will ask for one with better acceleration!

I expect I will feel like I've run a marathon tomorrow.

I hope you have a great ride!  I will keep my fingers crossed that you will feel up to riding and you won't relapse further.

fingers crossed,

I hope you had a good ride. I moved up to a more experienced and taller horse last Friday and rode with another horse in the outdoor ring. It was very muddy so we had to use only part of the space. I feel like I am progressing slowly.
