OT Rant I hate Doctors

First off I had to wait almost two hours in a sheet for my Cancer Doctor. Then he rushed through my appointment like speed dating. Then he tells me If I would have asked he would have not had my port replaced. I told him I called and the surgeon called. He said "No one called me". I was at the surgeons when they called. Then my Cancer marker went up and he is blaming the MS.

I have an MRI Monday for my MS and I can't get a script for Ativan. It took five months of phone calls to get the MRI. My MS Neurologist bumped me back three months which means I have not seen him in 15 months. I will have been diagnosed and treat for Cancer for a year before seeing the MS Specialist.

I also have to see a heart specialist because the Chemo damaged my heart and that took two weeks and lots of phone calls. I also need a Colonoscopy and making that appointment is difficult.

Then my appointment with the Breast Doctor disappeared off the website. I called and was told they cancelled it because she was not going to be there. No one informed me or rescheduled it. June would have rolled around and I would have showed up with no appointment if I had not called.

The Cancer Doctor wanted me to see another specialist who he said could not help me. He said they will tell you to do what you are doing. I said do you think I like going to doctors?

I wish I never had to see another Doctor as long as I live. I won't take a DMD because of all the hassles with Medco / Accredo and the financial help from the drug companies.

At least my Pharmacist is going to fax my Doctor for the script.

Do Doctors think we have all day to just make phone calls

Sorry to hear of all the hassles!  Doctors have no respect others' time, at least most, and they need it pointed out sometimes. I , of course for those who know me wouldn't doubt this, have done this. I did it as politely as I could, and Alex I know you are diplomatic so you wouldn't be rude , but it does work.

Alex, I sure wish you didn't have to see all these docs. wishing you the best!

I had my 4 year follow-up for my hip replacement on Wednesday. This required a blood draw, an MRI and an appointment with the surgeon.

Of course at one of the top orthopedic hospitals in the country they can't accommodate weekend MRI's or blood draws. So I had to take a day off. The capper of my day was that my surgeon seemed to have OD'd on Ritalin. I was in his presence for between 3 & 5 minutes! He was not even passingly interested in my having been diagnosed with MS since I last saw him...

I sure feel for you! That reads just like the stuff that happens at my VA and has been going on since 2008.

Alex, I hear you.  Even navigating my relatively simple web of medical care takes a lot of time.  Working M-F means I am doing calls from my desk at times or squeezing them in at lunch.  I can't begin to imagine the amount of time You spend on the phone sorting out the details.

and for the screwups.... ARGH!!! I am so sorry this continues to be such a nightmare to navigate.
