OT gallbladder

Well I made my daily contact to my PCP's office.  She said she would get me an appointment with a surgeon two weeks ago she is concerned because I have growth in my gallbladder and it is inflamed and all the organs around it are inflamed. Her exact words were "I want that thing out".

But then her nurse and she get busy and I get forgotten. I even drop in once a week in person. I am usually not this persistent but I can't eat without pain starting in my stomach and moving through me all day. This started in mid April.

I am stoic and do not show pain. I had an almond sized stone in my ureter for four month it was a different medical system but it was like similar in tests getting lost, Doctors not communicating, etc.

Finally!  And remember that if it gets worse you can always go to the ER and have it out emergently.

The warm coolness combo sounds intriguing.  That's how my body often feels to me - one hand will be warm while the other is cool.

have a good weekend,
L

That is great news!  (Ouch, though!)  We'll call it an answer to prayer, and continue to pray for smooth sailing.

Good News! Surgery Monday. The growth in my gallbladder is right at the neck obstructing the bile duct. The Surgeon could not believe I have endured this much pain for this long.

I learned a cool new hypnosis technique in therapy today. I had warm calmness shooting through me. I can't wait to practice for surgery prep.

They should have not let you suffer this long. I know what that feels like. I had to go to the ER to finally get DX with gallstone the size of marbles. My old PCP kept arguing with me, saying that it was just heartburn. I was literally having attacks every night, and I couldn't eat.

You'll feel much better once it's gone. Hopefully it's not aggravating any of your other symptoms by putting stress on your body. That can't be good.

Next time you have the chance to speak directly to the PCP, this is something that should be shared with her.  Doctors sometimes simply don;t know when their staff aren't performing as they should.  Of course, the subject needs to be broached with care, especially if you don't know how the doc and staff relate to one another in general.

Our prayers continue to precede your trip to the OR, young lady.  Get well soon.

Thanks I am not worried about surgery I have had enough of them in my life. I was just irritated my PCP's nurse was not setting up the appointment with the surgeon. I love my PCP but her staff can't be bothered. Which is fine if I could have called myself which I could not.

Mine was removed laparoscopically in 1999.  I was off work two weeks, but probably could have gone back in a week if I'd had to.

Like ack, I'd been sick a number of times before having it out, but I'd attribute my subsequent weight gain more to a lack of exercise since.  Because of other life changes, I cut out the good steady workout routine I'd developed, saving 40 minutes each morning and allowing myself to sleep in a bit, since I was usually up later the night before with added responsibilities.  Went from about 225 lbs. to maybe 180 before then, but then up as high as 250 in later years (back below 240 now, & still working at it).

The surgery isn't bad at all. I had mine out 10 years ago and it was laproscopic. I wish you good luck!! Good for you for being persistent with your doctor.

Alex,

I'm sorry the doctor and her office give you the run around. That is crazy! Is there a chance you can switch doctors? I would expect my doctors to call me back within a day or less when I have issues. At the very least they should be giving you the name and number of any doctor they refer you to before you leave the office!

My sister had her gallbladder out about a year ago. She said it was not too bad, and the recovery time was about 3 weeks, and she was feeling back to herself again.

I hope things go better when you meet with the surgeon tomorrow!

Ditto Alex.  It is not as painful surgery as it was ten yrs ago.  Now it is a couple of incisions and some sutures.  That is not to say it is pain free but it is better.  Keep us informed.

Good news!  I had my gallbladder removed almost 5 years ago and am glad I did.  I also could not eat without pain and so was basically not eatting for several months - lost lots of weight - I seem to have found it again.

I had to make several trips to the ER to bump my surgery time to a month rather than the 6 month wait just to see the specialist.  Of course by then I was getting so anemic that they thought they may have to transfuse me so that helped speed things along.

The surgery was not bad at all and I was back to myself in a few weeks.

Here's wishing you better pain free days very soon, Anna

Wow, that's weird.  If someone stole your identity, like maybe to use your insurance, you'd think they'd use a different doctor, right?

Yeah, I remember most of my surgeries.  There was one around 6 months of age that Mom had to fill me in about, but pretty much everything else has a pretty solid berth in those dusty old archives behind the eyes & between the ears.  So far, at least.

Congrats on getting the appointment, Alex.  We will pray it all goes smoothly and you start to feel much better very soon.

Yeah! I finally got an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday. I asked for the information about the surgeon and my PCP's nurse said you have it. I said no I don't. She said you were just there. I said no I wasn't. She said then you saw someone else in her practice. I said no I have not. Finally I got the name of the Doctor and address.

I have not had surgery in ten years, I would remember seeing a surgeon I think?

Thanks for your support.

Aww, drat & double drat, Alex!  I think the idea about losing your breakfast in their waiting room might be necessary after all.  Did you at least threaten that today?  They are sure giving you more grief than you need over something so simple as a gall bladder.
