Optic neuritis

Does early treatment of optic neuritis (when there's only sharp pain and slight vision blurring) help to recover better vision and prevent blindness ?

Hello, Farr:

Bubbles is exactly right. Steroid treatment will speed up recovery but not affect the long term outcome. I was not treated with steroids and visioned returned to 20/20 after 8 weeks. Did you have VEP done?

Well I don't quite know if I have ON because the neuro tested it and he told me that  it doesn't look like it ON. But it really feels like ON though .

Hi Farrr,

I'm not 100% sure on this but i think the only treatment is steroids. Steroids do not help you to recover better, only recover faster. I had pain and vision blurring with ON and i totally recovered the vision, however my neuro told me my eye is alittle slow to react now I did not have steroid treatment.... Therefore I think steroids can only speed up your recover and do not help you recover better. If I'm wrong please some one correct me :)

sorry your suffering ON right now :(
