Thanks for advice,I saw rheumatologist last year,he x rayed my spine & did blood test,he said I had 6points out of the 18 for fibromyalgia,he put me on pregabalin & told me that my GP would increase it gradually, after my pain hadnt responded too much to the low dosage,my GP decided to change to gabapentin because he said pregabalin is expensive.
I had a MRI 7 years ago on my neck as I have cervical spondylosis.
Reluctantly my GP decided to send me to see a neuro, after telling him my symptoms werent much different.
Two days ago I saw the neuro for approx 5mins,I'd waited 9months for the appointment,he asked me about the back pain, which I said, hurts to bend,& said I have numbness in legs,to which he said, answer the questions,we will come to numbness later, then he did push & pull test on hands & feet, asked if I had had pictures took, said MRI on neck in 2002,That was it.Never addressed the numbness or any of my other symptoms.
He said, sometimes we dont know what it is,so I will write to your GP,& tell him to send you to pain management clinic & showed me the door.
I was so upset, just to have a diagnosis, whatever it was, would make me feel better,as I'm sure they think its all in my head,& I know its not. When I had MRI in 2002,I didnt have back/hip or knee pain, but there was no way the neuro seemed to want to do any other tests,he made me feel as tho I was faking it,or maybe it comes down to the fact that tests cost money.
Hi and welcome to the MedHelp MS forum.
Some of what you describe is consistent with MS symptoms, and other things aren't. You don't say what tests you have had and what has been ruled out..
I suggest you see a rheumatologist and start over again. Lupus and Lyme disease are 2 disorders that should be investigated, as is fibromyalgia. I agree that merely prescribing pain killers is not the way to proceed.
Good luck in getting to the bottom of this.
