Question for Lulu - or anyone else for that matter...

Hi Lulu -

Just saw that you live in Dayton.  I'm in the process of moving from LA to Louisville, Kentucky.  A few questions for you or anybody else who has thoughts:

a)  Are you aware of a good neurologist in the area?

b)  Should I be looking first for a PCP, a general neurologist or an MS specialist?  I am undiagnosed but with my doctor is juggling ideas of vasculitis vs. MS vs. wake-up-one-day-and-hopefully-it-will-be-gone.    

c)  Probably most likely - do you know of a good way of finding a doctor in an area I'm completely clueless about, for the most part?

Thank you so much for your answer - belatedly.  The move is keeping me hopping.  

We are very excited about the move and even more excited to have a little bit of a scoop on the physician situation.  Your response was very kind.

Hi Dave,
LA to KY?  that is quite the move.  There is a very well regarded MS Center in the Louisville area that I have heard of.  Dayton is about a 3 hour drive and I don't have personal experience.  

This is a group of doctors who have also established a one-stop MS patient facility - it includes rehab, psychotherapy, case workers to help with insurance and service needs, etc.  I'm impressed with the concept.  

They just hosted a big one-day MS workshop that I had hoped to attend, but had out of state company arrive instead.   you can find it under msexpo.org

I would recommend you contact Evan Gold, his email address is on that site and tell him that I suggested you get in touch with him.  He should be able to refer you to the appropriate physicians for further testing.
