THANKS. IT DOES SOUND LIKE SPASMS TO ME TOO BUT I WASN'T SURE. I DIDN'T MENTION IT TO THE LAST NEUROLOGIST BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALIZE IS MIGHT BE SIGNIFICANT. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS RLS. MY MOM IS ON MEDICATION FOR RLS.
I HAVE DISCOMFORT IN BOTH LEGS, BUT MORE IN THE RIGHT SIDE. I ONLY HAVE INVOLUNTARY TOE MOVEMENTS IN MY RIGHT FOOT. I DON'T GET THE CREEPY FEELING. JUST A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE PULLING STARTING IN MY LOWER BACK AND GOING ALL THE WAY DOWN MY LEG TO MY TOE.
RUBBING MY LOWER BACK OR FEET HELPS. BUT I GENERALLY JUST HAVE TO LAY DOWN FLAT AND STRETCH OUT TO GET IT TO STOP.
THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY NIGHT AND DOES NOT KEEP ME FROM GOING TO SLEEP. IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS WORSE WHEN I AM REALLY TIRED AND LAYING DOWN FLAT AND GOING TO SLEEP. I KNOW MY HUSBAND HAS RLS BECAUSE HE KICKS ALL NIGHT LONG! SOMETIMES HE KICKS ME.
IS THIS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE AN MS SYMPTOM AND SHOULD I MENTION IT TO THE NEW MS DOCTOR?
L
I hae agree with Quix, this does not sound like RLS, but muscle spasms. I have had RLS for over 13 years and it's a creepy, crawling sensation with the feeling that you HAVE to move both legs that occurs just before going to bed or when in the bed. I now have it in my arms, also. It's horrible. Just when I want to sleep, this horrible sensation to move my legs or arms, keeps me awake.
I hope that you follow Quix's advice. I believe she picked this one out as really being spasms. By the way, just for informational sake, RLS seems to be very common in those with MS. I do not believe doctor's understand why.
I hope you feel better,
Heather
You seem to be describing spasms. Prolong contractions of muscles, beyond your control and doing things that you can't do voluntarily.
Try tonic water or a high grade magnesium supplement like Mag orotate, and some others. NOT Mag oxide which is in most OTC supplements and isn't of much use.
