Results of an MS patient with urinary retention and InterStim Therapy

I wonder if any patients having been told they have urinary retention and need to catheterize, have been offered, looked up or had a Urologist attempt a trial course.  If so, did it work for anyone.  I am most interested, being an MS patient myself.

I will talk to my Urologist about this and although I am not too optimistic, if there is any positive information, I will definitely get back to you.

I am at the very early stages now, quite cared about catheterizing, feeling squeamish and finding it quite painful when I have to actually push the catheter into the bladder.  I know it's because being a guy means I have a prostate with an additional 'valve' to pass.

I am hoping to find something small like a 12F and I am trying to find out about the hydrophillic catheters, hoping they will go in with far more ease.

Hi Matt,  I just checked out that procedure, and it looks and appears to me, that it is for an over active bladder/ one that leaks, and causes you problems and embarassment.

I have the retentive bladder, and you mentioned you had the same issue, so I don't think it would be of help to you.

Please let me know if I am wrong.

I have been wrong before...:)

Sorry, I have to just use the self-cath.   I get supplies from Coloplast, and if you have any covereage, some of them may be covered for you.

Good luck with all of this,
Candy
