SCARRED

Now I'm scarred. I have not been fully dx yet. They suspect that I have MS. They are calling it (maybe possible MS), let wait and let it show it's self.

On that note went to the bathroom 3 times last night, thought I peed to bed. I could only go alittle bit. Having really bad side and back pain. Small pain in stomach now and then.

What if I go to the ER and it is just the UTI is not gone?

What to do?

I am sorry I worried everyone.  I think I miss spoke (wrote) I wasn't scarried about the dx, I was scarred that maybe this was something serious or I would go and it would just be gas and I would be so embarrested.

They are not taking the Cath out today. how am I going to walk and deliver mail with this on? It kind of hurt to sit down and bend over.  Oh well. Waiting to hear if I can see the urologist before Nov. 12.

Thank you everyone.

About time too!

Make sure they do not remove the catheter, or only do it with some intermittant catheters to take home (with training), UNTIL the constipation is sorted.

Just being constipated is enough to cause retention, there may be nothing else going on.

One step at a time.  Leave the worrying about lesions and causes for another time, get this acute episode sorted first.  When you have had a bowel movement, and if you get some take home catheters, feel free to PM me regarding hygeine.  You can easily give yourself more infections if you insert them without the right cleaning preparation.  I have been self-cathing for about two years.

This may yet though be a one off.  If you were very constipated that may be all that caused this, and then all you need to look at is why you are getting constipated.

Don't ever make me scream at you again.  Glad you took our advice and decided against kidney failure.

I keep churning out the British found diagnosis of Fowlers Syndrome, a cause of retention in the absence of other neurological illness.  Is a hotbed of research right now.

But if you have other neurological symptoms this may be more related, if it is not just the constipation.  I was diagnosed with Fowlers but with all that is going on plus my back (and now I find brain) is covered in lesions -no diagnosed MS to date - am querying that as the diagnosis now.  Anyway, look into it, but the website is a bit rubbish, you may have to root around a bit to get better information.

The pain in your sides etc. is from the infection.  It will go once your bladder has settled and the upper and lower urinary tract calmed down.

You have no idea how much your first posts annoyed me, or maybe you do.  I was reading about someone who was in a life-threatening situation chatting about possible future diagnoses.  It takes a lot for me to get angry with people here, but having nearly died from this myself you pushed all my wrong buttons.  Glad to hear you are still alive,

wish

BTW, if the urologist finds nothing, and the retention it is not just from the constipation and a one off, then get a uro-neurologist or uro-gynaecologist referral.  Will be of more use.

Hey Rae,

I'm not sure why, there can be varying causes of this, but you still need to know exactly what is going on 1st and foremost.

I'm glad they cath'd you.  Whew... If this progresses again, you be sure to go to the ER.  This is nothing to mess with.  They need to look at all of it, the kidneys, the ureters, the bladder, and how things are flowing, or not flowing.

A good urologist should be able to get to the bottom of this.  He or she should order up the proper testing right away.

It sounds to me that you neuro is not taking this serious.  Only getting a tiny bit out is serious and needs attention.

Have your plan mapped out - k? Things progress, you go back to the Dr. If you remain stable, you go to the urologist, and describe exactly what you told us here.

Hope you feel well soon,
shell

YAY for the emptying of the bladder!  Who knew that going potty would make you feel so much better  :)  Thanks for the update.  I have been wondering how you were doing!
I can not answer the question on the lesions but wanted to chime in anyway & say YAY!

My sono of the kidney came back normal.  The bladder came back ok, but it did should retension.  So, I am scheduled to go to see a Urologist on Nov. 12th @ 2:30. My doctor told me that if I was too uncomfortable to go to the ER.
I ended up going to Urgent Care yesterday. I finally went pee. Yeah!  They put a cathader in and I have to go to the doctors today. I am hoping they remove it and give me one I can do myself when I need to. It is alittle uncomfortable down there.   I am still having the pains on the right and back now and then.  But no more stomach pains.  Do you think it could be the other end giving me a problem?  I also am constipated lately. I just got over diareha.  It is usually one or the other.
My question is if I dont have lessions in my spine why is this happening?

Hey Rae!

Folks, Rae is one of our regulars here, just not been around so much lately.

Honey, what is going on? I've not been around for days, and just read this.

Did you go to the Dr? I don't know much about UTIs, but I do know about kidney stones.  Both can cause horrifying pain.

Talk to us, what did you end up doing.
Hugs,
Shell

RaeAnne,
I do hope you will heed Wishes' scolding and have this checked sooner rather than later - can you imagine continuing with this discomfort another 24 hours? I believe all of us at some time or another have felt foolish going to the ER, but we are all still alive as well.  It sounds like your neuro has told you the same thing - don't let this drag on.

Feel better today,
Lulu

I AM HOME STILL BECAUSE I CALLED MY NEURO TO SEE WHICH ER I SHOULD GO TO.  HE SAID AS LONG AS I AM GOING TO THE BATHROOM A LITTLE BIT IT WILL BE FINE TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW WHEN HIS OFFICE OPENS AND I CAN BE CHECKED OUT.

BUT, IF THE PAIN GET WORSE OR I STILL CAN NOT GO TO THE BATHROOM, I AM TO GO.

THE PAIN IS THE SAME. HE MADE ME FEEL LIKE HE DOESN'T THINK ANYTHING IS WRONG WITH ME SO I SHOULD NOT GO.

I HAD TO WAIT FOR MY HUSBAND TO GET HOME TO WATCH THE KIDS AND WE WILL SEE IN A LITTLE WHILE HOW I FEEL. IF I STILL HURT I AM GOING TO GO.

THANKS FOR THE CONCERN. I DO HEAR YOU.

What are you doing still posting about this???

Read my last PM, get your bag, and go to the hospital - NOW!

You can worry about the future and prospective diagnoses another time, no disrespect to others.  This is a medical emergency, and so easily rectified by your getting to the ER straight away.  No-one there will hurt you, do anthing complex intitially, they will just insert a catheter and likely save your life.

The alternative?  Well, there is nothing to worry about if you are not alive to worry.  I want to scare you enough to GO.
All you are thinking is a million times worse than what will happen at the hospital, which is a minor procedure, they teach it to first year nursing students it is that simple.  They teach it to patients, some of us here catheterize ourselves, it is painless.

GO TO YOUR ER NOW.  HOW MANY TIMES AND HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS?

angry because I care

Have you had MRI's done, with contrast?

Check out the health pages in the upper right of this forum.

If you do have an MRI performed, be sure to get a copy of the images on CD and a copy of the accompanying radiologist's report, too!

I am not a medically knowledgable person but if you have pain that is bad - I would go to the hospital - NOW!

Anything with pain like that would not be something I messed with.
