We had fun watching the event when it came to our town! We got pictures of everyone - so cool!!! The episode filmed showed around Valentines day 2 years ago & it was more of a love story. Many people were upset that they did not choose a family that NEEDED a home worse instead of a family that was merging 2 families. I enjoyed the process & boy does it take a lot to get it all together - except the demo - that was done in no time at all. Glad you got to experience it also Lu. One benefit of living close is you did not have to find a parking place :)
How very cool!! I love that show and all that it stands for:o). It makes me cry every time I watch it. It is sad to see how many of the families have had to sell the homes later because they couldn't afford the higher taxes and utility bills, but overall, I think it's a fantastic thing:o).
What a crazy week with all this going on in the neighborhoood where I live.
I skipped the *move that bus* ceremony today - they advised being there very early, bring your own water, and no lawn chairs were allowed. It was scheduled to happen at 1 and I just heard the crowd chanting at 2:45 !
As much as I would have loved to have gone in person, mob scenes really aren't my thing - and especially crowds in the sun with no place to rest. Besides, I can watch it on all three of the local TV channels at 6. See everyone, I do exhibiti common sense some times! LOL
I just read Wittenberg University donated 4 fully paid scholarships for the family's children - how cool is that?!!!
I'm sure the family will love their new home -
if you want to read more about it and see photos, you can find them through our local newspaper website

The episode will air sometime this fall - but you won't see me in any shots. I only visited the construction site one time. I figure I drive past there at least twice a day when there aren't barricades in the road.
Looking fwd to seeing this episode.
Hope you get a peek at goings on there!
The show is such a blessing to so many
here's the link to the family bio - they of course are off to Disney World while the neighborhood is preparing for the demolition tomorrow.

I am so tickled that this man and his family will benefit - I am a fan of the show and always have a spot where it brings me to tears.
Counting my blessings,
Lulu
It so nice to know good things still happen to deserving people like this family... How wonderful you get to watch it happen...
Did you meet up with your friend in Cleavland? I hope you did get to spend some time with her.
Sending you love....
Lulu, that's so much fun! See if you can get yourself in the crowd to be filmed! It would be so much fun to see if we can find you when it's aired . . .

That show is great - yes we even get it here in the UK.
It will be great fun to see the changes.
I saw them blow a house up once!
Are you going to try and get yourself in a shot?

Wow, we watch that show all the time, it is on pay tv in aussie. Glad to see it is real and deserving people do get to receive it.
Udkas.
How exciting. Geez, there is so much excitement going with everyone this week. Alex got the President's attention with her "I can afford MS" sign. Shermie got to touch Lance Armstrong during the race in France, and now you with the EXHE.
The family sounds really deserving and I am happy for them. I'll look forward to seeing that episode and know that it is taking place in your neck of the woods.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh, I love that show!!! I hope you have the chance to watch some of the build. We had an EMHE here in Kirkland, WA last year. Sadly, it took place during the work week, and I wasn't able to get over to see any of the work. Not to mention we were having a deluge of our Seattle "liquid sunshine".....
Sounds like the family is very deserving indeed. They do such a great job of picking families that really need the new home. I cry every time I watch the show.
If you meet any of the designers, or Ty - let us know! How exciting!
