Schedule for the Week of June 15

Well, this is the place that allows us to care for each other as a community.  Other forums are starting to copying it.  Even though people mention important things that are coming up in their lives in their posts, this is where we can check so everyone gets our support when it is especially needed.

What's happening with you this week?

Just got a PCP appointment for this afternoon at 2:00 for this throat infection.  Glands are swollen and temp is slightly elevated at 99. That can be considered a fever in steroid-land.

Might as well wait unti the week's half over to respond on this thread, that way I stand less chance of repeating someone else or asking a question just answered.  I seem to be doing that a lot lately.

Nothing of major significance for me; see PCP in 90 minutes for general follow-up.

Biggest non-medical news item is that Nancy added me to her wireless plan.  Goodness, a two-year contract is real commitment, isn't it?   (:>o)  Got a cool new phone, too, but kept the phone number from my old prepaid carrier (whose reception was terrible).  Turns out the plan we're on should be quite a bit cheaper than the pay-as-you-go setup I had, IF we stay within allotted minutes for out-of-network voice usage.  We have unlimited texting, which is cool.

Doc's office and pharmacy are giving me conflicting instructions about Imitrex.  Either way, they only prescribed 9 tablets that are supposed to last 30 days.  I did the math; they must be expecting this treatment, whcih the doc called an abortive approach to be employed when I sense an attack coming on, to hang around in my system for days after I take it.  Due to the mixed signals on instructions, I did wind up taking more than I was supposed to at first, and I think it helped for nearly 48 hours afterward.  Perhaps; we'll see how it goes.

Still disagree with the approach that this should be treated as an atypical migraine, when I have more symptoms of an atypical case of MS, but the general neuro places a lot more weight on my very limited history of having experienced classic migraine several times in the summer of 1997 and once this year.

Vestibular PT at 11 this morning; I was doing fine in Florida and didn't do my exercises, since Friday I'm very dizzy and fatigued again.  I'm gonna get lectured, I just know it!

Fill out Disability Update Report from SSD.

Got discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon and had a few appointment set up for me before I left.

Well, nothing this week, but after a very very LONG LONG wait to see a 2nd neuro., that time is nearing...I go next week the 24th to an MS board certified neurologist and I am very very anxious, almost excited...I'm 22 and never thought I could be this excited to be going to a doctor...I am staying hopeful. I've had a pretty bad last few days with swallowing, balance, strength, etc. and it's been tough, but I am a fighter!

This post actually is on topic.

Tuesday I have an appointment with my local neuro. Will discuss the disability issue etc. and see his opinion versus the MS neuro regarding the bone pain.

Wishing you luck with the neuro and hopefully a good game plan that gets you the treatment you need.

Wishing you fun in Portugal during your off hours with your other half.

Take care and try not to overdo the knee!

Thursday, it's a session with my acupuncturist (Yessss!)

Friday I go and have a heart - to - heart with my neurologist.  So far he's pretty bent on starting with an interferon first.  I considered Avonex, 'cos it's just once a week, but the IM approach kinda makes me nervous (ouch!).  So now I'm considering Rebif for the easier SQ approach.  I know it's 3x a week, but I've read if you take Ibuprofen 30 minutes before you give yourself your shot, and do it at bedtime, the next day is pretty bearable.  Besides, I have a few diabetic friends who inject themselves a couple of times a day and don't even wince.

I've switched from Soma to Valium for the leg spasms, and by golly, it's working!  I've only had to leap out of bed once in the last two weeks!

Cheers,
Guitar_grrrl

Wednesday I will meet for the second time with the PT for my unruly bladder. I'm hope this gives me back some control, in more ways than one.

Oh yeah, Tuesday is my last day of work for the school year - yeah!!! Then its two months of summer fun (right!).  This will give me the much needed break to rejuvinate for the next academic year.
