Hi Julie - That does sound like what I am feeling, and that's exactly how I describe it - like a phone ringing. Mine has continued all day, even when I was having the brain MRI this morning- it happens in any position for me though...standing, sitting, or laying down. Doesn't hurt, just distracts and gets me wondering what's going on. I'm now convinced it is some sort of misguided nerve signal.
Ok,
You all me wondering...
I've sort of had this feeling in my belly a few times in the past three weeks. It doesn't last more that a minute or two and it only happens when I lay down, usually if taking a nap or at night. Is it possible this is what I am feeling or do you think maybe it's a stomach issue, since I'm not having is more often and it doesn't last longer??
I don't have any stomach problems!! At least that I am aware of!!!! LOL
It is just a very mild vibrating sensation, almost like when my phone is in my pocket and I'm sitting on a soft surface, like the couch. Only in my tummy!!!
Julie
Welcome!
Have you notices this buzzing happening when you put your head down to look at something? Mine did, right in the middle of my keister. I actually thought it was an electrical thing going on w/my computer hard drive because I keep my leg up on it at work. I'd look down for the culprit, buzz, buzz, would get worse. Lift my head up it would be gone.
FINALLY! I figured it was happening every time I put my head down when I was driving home from work! My phone would ring, I would look down at the number see if I wanted to answer. I'd lift my head up to look at the road and it would stop! Holy C rap!
I was scared to tell the Dr on my 1st visit. thought he'd think I was nuts. I told him, and he said it was L'Hermittes. Huh? I said, then he explained.
So, I've given you waaaay much more than you were looking for. What I really wanted to say was hello, and ask you if it happened when you put your head down, like chin to chest?
Thanks for coming our way, wishing you well with your testing,
Shelly
We on the forum have reported buzzing in lots of places, not just the groin area. I do remember one funny post: Someone said she often experienced lots of buzzing there, among many other symptoms elsewhere, but that one was the only one she wasn't asking her doctor to cure!
I've never had the pleasue or pain of that one, but I did awaken one morning with the distinct feeling that my cell phone was under my left thigh and vibrating away. Very weird!

Funny because I have had that same sensation in groin area. When I drive, I always place my cell phone between my legs so I wont have to look for it while driving. Many times I have grabbed it to answer it, only to find it was not my phone. One time it wasn't even there! I also get thos sensations in my right calf and left back/shoulder area. Like you, it comes and goes thru out the day, almost every day, very annoying but not painful. However, I'm just a limbolander with no answers like you. I was told lumbar spinal stenosis by my neuro, which doesnt explain UE symptoms. But when I got hold of his report, it read "possible ms, not to dismiss spinal stenosis". So really, I am right where I started one year ago.
Good luck,
Samsgam
Quix-thanks for your wisdom - does it seem strange that this is all seemingly happening at once, or is that the essence of a flareup? My left arm, pinky and ring finger have definitely gotten worse in the last month, and since the EMG my neck and shoulders have definitely worsened, and that was about 3 weeks ago. The buzz, by the way has lasted all day - I started timing it and it is about every 5 minutes and lasts about 5 seconds each time. Doesn't hurt but is truly bizarre feeling. I'm anxious to see if it is still there when I wake up.
I'm so glad I found this forum - I think it will be a great source of information and support, and hopefully as I learn things I can help share too. Tomorrow is the brain MRI - and labwork before that, so here's to finding stuff out!
Peace -
Jen
Tsk, Tsk....you're not supposed to have your cell phone there!
Lol, yes that is exactly how people describe the sensation. Weird, isn't it?
About the observing for 3 to 6 months. Whether that is common, depends on whether the diagnosis is definite for MS, in which case the holding off on treatment would be very controversial. Some groups ( most notably out of and influenced by the Mayo Clinic) are recommending this for people whose symptoms leading up to diagnosis have been "mild."
If they don't have enough info for a definite diagnosis, and not enough to call it a Clinically Isolated Syndrome" the normal procedure is often to follow the person along and repeat the neuro exam and MRI in 3 to 6 months or when there is another relapse of symptoms.
So what the neuro does really depends on the evidence pointing toward MS.

Hang in there, I'm sure someone will comment here, I'm ready to rush of so I've not got but a minute.
First, yes, the buzzing sounds very much like what other's have mentioned here on the forum, and hopefully it won't stick around. People have already said that it is located in their abdomen and they've looked for the pager that was buzzing! :)
As far as your neuro, sounds like you have a good one- i.e. he's booked for a long time. That doesn't say anything about his ability as a neuro.
As far as the observation part, it really varies, they will most likely send you for MRI's and spinal taps, and lab work and hopefully cover all the mimics that are similar to MS. When these results are back and you have discussed them, at that point they will decide if you need observation or treatment according to what they see on both these and your phsyical exam. Keep us updated!
ok, got to go now, but please, feel free to ask any questions you need!
