Stopping Betaseron

Happy 4th of July to all of those in the US.  and a Happy July 4th to those not in the US lol!!
I was wondering if anyone has every had side effects from stopping a DMD??
The specialist at UCSF is switching me to Tysabri and has told me to go ahead and stop my Betaseron.  It has now been 2 shots that I missed (well didn't take) and for the past 2 days I have been feeling like someone beat the crud outta me.

My husband is insisting it is cuz I am not taking my shots.  I don't see how that can be.  We went to UCSF Monday night (4 hr drive), had my Dr appt Tues which took 4 hrs.  Got 7 vials of blood drawn before I ate lunch, then spent that afternoon and the next day wandering around SF and driving home.  DUH!!!!! I know!

I have been trying to get this house back in order since our trip, and I think I am over worked basically.  I have been getting a very upset stomach at night and flu like sx's with a cough (only at night I know wierd) which I write off to doing too much during the day.

I had 5 days of solumedrol from June 14-18 and my sx's improved.  Of course when I went to UCSF I was in tip top form for me, and the Dr didn't get to see how bad off I get.  He thinks as of June 29th that I should continue to improve from this last flare, but since stopping the Beta, I almost feel like I am in another flare.

Has anyone experienced this when stopping or switching a DMD??

Thanks
D

Happy 4th to you too!

I agree with ess, i know there have been times when taking a trip to UCSF and it being a long day, shopping on the way home....I felt like crap for a couple days, especially if you come home and do a lot of work.

Rest often when working !!  Hope you start feeling better....

hugs, meg

Hi, D. I'm with you. It's very unlikely that stopping the DMD would do that, and very likely that overdoing things generally would make you feel sick.

OR---you're coming down with a bug, just a coincidence.

OR---you're starting an MS flare, also a coincidence.

So take care of yourself, and do as little as possible! Feel better soon.

And three cheers for the red, white and blue!
