Tingling in hands

I have had a few early symptoms of MS in the past 6 months or so and am still in the process of a diagnosis. I am curious if anyone else has had tingling in the hands that only lasted about 10 or 12 hours and then went away? It started in my right hand and moved up about halfway up my forearm.  I don't know if this is relevant or not but would like to know if anyone else's tingling/numbness started this way.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
as Ess said a 'MS relapse' has to last a minimum of 24-48 hours.

I have all kinds of transient sensory symptoms lasting minutes to hours on a daily basis....When that symptom is continuous for 2 days then I think...maybe I am having a relapse.

I have had everything from weak feelings in arm/s and leg/s to tingling or buzzing sensations in finger/s, toe/s, leg/s ect...MS is different for every person.

Again, like Ess said, MANY other conditions can cause tingling as you describe....MS is usually not a quick diagnosis....EVERYthing else has to be ruled out first. Even vitamin deficiency (like B12) can cause neuro symptoms!

Good luck and feel free to ask questions any time...also if you look to the right of your screen...there are "health pages" lots of great info in them!

Laurie :)

Tingling is a symptom of so many disorders that it's impossible to say anything conclusive about it. In conjunction with other symptoms it may point in various directions that can be pursued to try to pin things down.

The tingling episode you describe, though, would not be a consideration for MS, because it is medically agreed that an MS 'relapse' must last a minimum of 24 hours, either continuously or off and on. Some doctors insist this must be 48 hours. But almost all patients report a symptom continuing much longer, sometimes months.
